How much value does McDonald really have?
It would be naive to draw any sort of conclusion from those numbers. Look at the past few seasons McDonald has had. He could easily just be slumping. On the other hand, Weight isn't slumping, he is just old.

Well I at least think rumours from him shouldnt be locked considering ones from a certain person are kept open even though he has a 0.0001% accuracy!

Think of the big picture here folks... Burke gets a leader, plus keeps his D together. He doesn't mind giving, when it allows him to get.
Big win for Burke.
Yes but it doesn't solve the situation this year since Weight is making 3.5m , which is 200k more than McDonald.

Or did i missed something ?

I don't see how the Ducks lose anything in this trade.
Andy McD has been irrelevant without Teemu.

Yes. The problem is "tagging space;" basically, Burke had to free up cap space for next year, not this year, which he did since Weight is a UFA at year's end.

That's a great point.

Why should that rumours website that is never right be considered more credible than a guy who had actual inside info. and was right ?

You can't claim it until you put an (e5) by it.

Weight is only 35-36, it is a solid deal, give him Selanne to work with and watch magic plus Burke cleared 3.33 million dollars for next season.

I like this move

I wouldn't be surprised if Burke turned right around to trade that defenseman and Weight together somewhere.

Very impressive scoop by ERICNUT. Man.

And as far as this trade goes, it is depressing, but whatevs I suppose. The consequences of the whole S. Nieds retirement issue I suppose.

Not just that but if Selanne coming back, the Ducks could give him incentives in his deal and next year with McDonald gone they get those bonuses easily covered if Selanne reaches them.

Great move by Burke

andy mac and kariya together again... interesting.
They never really played together. When Kariya has here, Mac honestly played on the 3rd line on most nights. During the 2005-2006 season, Mac had a breakout season. Before that though, he really didn't score a lot.

Not really sure why Burke took speed away from the Lineup for Weight who is anything but speedy.
