Put yourself in the Penguins' shoes, would you trade Malkin for that return?

I wouldn't.

If someone made a similar offer for Marc Staal I'd turn it down and right now Malkin's value is more than Marc Staal's value.

Put it this way, in a couple years depending on what the cap is and if it went up or down Pitt might be forced to trade Malkin or Staal. It actually is sort of a valid thread.

I wasnt even thinking cap to be honest.

I was thinking there is a team with two offensive Elite guys and shatty goaltending and D

Does a line of thinking where they deal Malkin to obtain QUALITY PIECES to add to the betterment of the team exist.

And if so, what would you be willing to give to get him? Its going to take some SERIOUS talent going the other way, not just promising prospects

Would they want to see him a Ranger, no more than we would want to see Staal develop into an elite D man as a Pen.

I think if I'm the Pens and the Rangers were asking I want

Lundqvist. When that goes no where I want

Staal, Tyutin, Montoya and Cherpenov

I don't see how we can trade for Malkin, we would most probably have to part with Lundqvist and Staal, and I wouldn't do that since Lundqvist is our best player and he means more to us.

It would take 15 current Jaromir Jagr clones.

Well, I guess that depends where you set your definition of "franchise"... do you want Jagr or Jovanovski ?

Jagr.

And that trade proposal was bad, don't worry.

Staal > Malkin for the Rags right now, our defense is showing it's holes and Staal seems to have barely one and he's only 30 games into his career. Yes, you can say much about him "can't predict this, and that".

It wouldn't happen anyway.

You would have to overpay drastically to get Malkin. I think we should stop with these senseless trade proposals for guys that other teams have absolutely no intention of dealing

Staal, Tyutin, Cherepanov, and Montoya...

Yeah right. Let's give away half our future...

I think Cherepanov's potential is about 80% that of Malkin's alone.

Malkin is soft no thanks. Im done with softies. One good hit and he dissappears.

Thats what seperates Malkin from AO, AO will take hit and then slap u the mouth, go running in front of your net and score a goal. While Malkin will play a very outside game.

Can't give up a franchise d-man and a potential star goalie to our division rival. Especially when D and goaltending are the things keeping them from a cup.

Malkin isn't a generational talent. A generational talent implies that guys like him come along every 20 years or so. Malkin isn't even the best player in his draft so far.

you're an idiot if you'd call Jovo a franchise Dman...

Im talking Niedermeyer, Lidstrom, Stevens, Borque.. THAT sort.

So comparing Jagr to Jovo is just ridiculous, and will invalidate anything you ever say in the future.

Jagr to Lidstrom, fine.

a "strong" offensive player... like.. maybe Daniel Sedin = Jovo.

What would be required from the Rangers to aquire Malkin is much more than what any smart Ranger fan would be willing to give up.

Malkin is a center. He may play on the lw sometimes but he is at his best at center.

Jesus christ... way to split hairs... it REALLY doesnt make any difference in the context of what Im saying...

IF Malkin winds up being Sakic, and IF Staal winds up being Niedermeyer...

I'd still rather have Nieds...

And before some smartass comes in here, OBVIOUSLY I mean Scott.

Neither would I unless Crosby or Ovechkin were coming back in return. Staal has the chance to be this generations Pronger. I really would like to see him Ranger blue for the next ten years.

Actually it really does make a difference in the context of what you were saying because your original statement was that you would take a franchise dman over a franchise lw and as left wingers and centers are not the same thing it changes the meaning of your original statement. How can you even be making comments about Malkin when you dont realise he is a center?

However even if you want to go back and change your original statement to be that you would take a franchise dman over a franchise c then Ill take Mario or Gretzky over your choice of defenseman thanks.

If Malkin turns into Mario and Staal turns into Niedermayer

Id still rather have Malkin, just working on your logic there.

Lol what seperates Malkin from Ovechkin is that they play a completely different game from each other.
