The Rivermen picked up more help for their final six games when the St. Louis Blues signed University of Maine winger Josh Soares.
Heís a 6-1, 195-pounder who was better than a point-a-game guy for one of the nationís elite programs, notching 19 goals with 22 assists in 41 games.
The Blues have done a heckuva job finding help for the Rivermen in the college ranks this season. Some of these kids, like Soares and defenseman Steve Wagner, are a clear upgrade over what Peoria has had on the lower third of its roster this season.
I really like this signing. However that is based on stats and what I've read only. I have not seen him play. Anyone able to tell us more about him? He dominated the OPJHL league and has done very well for maine. At age 25 he needs to make an impact in his rookie or atleast sophomore season though.
not sure if he is expected to fill a roster spot in stl, but he brings a lot to peoria. he was all over the ice. one of the few maine players who had good games. he was gritty and tough, and had a nose to get the puck from the corners.
solid, especially with peoria making a playoff run.
