Buchberger scores!

Hallefrickinglujah!

First goal in 87 games and, obviously, his first of the season.

A great player who had a great career, he's work his ass off all season and truly deserved that goal, especially considering Sunday almost certainly will be his last game in the NHL.

Kelly Buchberger will never get the respect he deserves, given his meager skills. That he had such a long career is testament to his enormous heart. The guy never took a shift off, and has been a great example for all of those with more desire than skill.

He was always, always one of my favorite players in the league. I mean he's shot now, there's not much he can do on the ice anymore, but I'm still glad he's on the team because of the leadership and never say never attitude.

Ironically, his last goal was against the Penguins

Yay for good ol' Kelly. The guy has no skills, but he always poured every ounce of effort he had in him into trying to win the game.

did he have some decent seasons point-wise w/ the oilers? It was good to see him get a goal this season. He always stepped up for the younger guys, and even took a few beatings on occasion. Great player, and was glad to have him help guide the pens through a very rough season.

I think he had a couple of seasons where he got 30-40 points in the early 90s. He was always just a gritty kind of give it your all guy. I remember watching him fight. He'd get pounded every time, but he'd go over there and stick up for his teammates anyway.

It was such a pretty goal too. He really showed off his goal scoring skills.
