Nashville is 6-8-1 on the road. Minnesota is 10-5 at home.

Preds team preview
Quote:
The Predators struggles seem to be rooted in their lack of production in the final period of regulation. In the last six games, Nashville has been outscored by an 8-3 margin in the third period. In the 16 games prior, the Preds dominated the third, winning the frame by a combined 28-12 score.

Wild team preview
Quote:
The Wild have scored 80 goals through 32 games, an average of just 2.5. But when they've faced Nashville since the start of last season, their offense has thrived. Minnesota has won four of its five games against the Predators in that span, scoring 23 goals in the process.

The Wild's power play has thrived in those meetings, scoring on 10 of 22 chances with the man advantage - a 45.5 percent success rate. They matched a franchise record with five power-play goals in a 6-5 home win over the Predators on Oct. 7, 2006

Wild:12-15-07 W 2-1 @ Los Angeles

Last meeting: Recap: 11-24-07 @ Nashville L 3-4 - Branko Radivojevic scored with under 2 minutes left in regulation to give the Wild a win.

Injuries
Nashville – Steve Sullivan (back) is out, Erat (neck strain) is questionable (suposed to come off IR and meet team in MIN).
Wild- Mikko Koivu (leg), Petteri Nummelin are listed on IR

Alright, enough with this streaky losing crap. Arnott, Dumont, Legwand, Radulov, Erat, Mason, Zidlicky....all of you- get your **** together and start ****ing playing the way we all know you can! Just because one goes cold doesn't mean everyone else has to as well. And don't give me "we got chances/shots but faced a hot goalie" excuse either, find a way to get the pucks in the net!

There are 12 teams ahead of us. 11 have played 2-5 games more than us (StL has played the same amount)! In fact, we even have games in hand on all of the two whole teams below us. It's time to start gaining some points with these games-in-hand. And it needs to start with the logo stealers!

And play Klein.

GO PREDS!!!!!

Time to start a Spank303 GDT win streak of, say, six games. Good luck Preds and my predictions:

Goals by all 6 defensemen OR
4 goals by Jason Arnott OR
Phillstrom, Tootoo, Nichols each have a goal and a match penalty.

Our recent scoring woes against a good defensive team doesn't bode well for us.

The bigger shock isnt that Tootoo is getting 1st line time its the fact that Dumont is on the 4th line.
Thats about as big of a wake up call as you can give short of outright scratching a guy.

How is it that a bunch of us non-hockey professionals can have good ideas when pro coaches profess ignorance???

Please, break out of this slump for Saturday's game-- hate to think I wasted ticket money for another white knuckle night of frustration!

Has Trotz's lost the room?

Maybe being a lame duck for three years in a row has caught up to him. I know if Nashville was is a Canadian market that this question would be brought up consistently. The question would be to replace him or give him a new contract.

The culture that exists in the organization wouldn't lend itself to this, but the leaders on this team have only been with the club for a relatively short time, with the exception of Legwand.

Quote from Trotz: "Having two groups got us to 29th in the league, so maybe if we add another, we can move up!''

Did I honestly just read that?

If we ever start to play like we did at the beginning of the season when we went 0-1, instead of putting forth the sustained effort that we have shown over the past 7 games, despite going 1-6, then he will have lost the room.

I don't think he has yet, but sustained losing will erode the player's ability to keep putting forth that effort, and things will inevitably start to crumble.

I think this next 5 games in 8 nights is critical for this team and especially Trotz.....if he doesn't piece together a few wins here, he could, indeed lose the room, forcing Poile's hand to make a change.

It seems that Trotz is grasping at straws right now with his lines and putting ellis in and saying that if he plays well, he may very well start again tomorrow.

I dont honestly know what guys want Trotz to do with the set of forwards he has.

He really only has a few options
At best he could likely put together 1 premiere scoring line and then 3 checking lines
or
2 semi decent lines that can score and 2 checking lines

This team is missing alot of forward firepower at the moment
so Trotz fiddling with the lines doesnt really surprise me much because theres only so much he can do with what he's got

Fraser...if your trying to get offensive firepower, promoting Tootoo while demoting Dumont.....well lets just say its not too bright. If he is trying to send a message to Dumont, then just bench him. Playing him on the fourth line is simply asking other teams to score on us....

There is nobody really to replace him with if you outright bench him
STARTING him on the 4th line doesnt necessarily mean he finishes the game on the 4th line and still sends a message.

The sad fact is that Tootoo is doing the most with his limited ice time and deserves more. Of Course you and I both know that doesnt mean he should be on the 1st line...I just think this is designed to wake Dumont up because he is that guy the Preds need to be scoring up there with Arnott

I agree with everything your saying, but it must be said, that if Dumont doesn't play strictly on the fourth line (which he shouldn't and won't), Trotz's message is a bit hollow...
