Simon Hit / Boulerice Hit

Has anyone seen the Simon stamp tonight? It's on the main board if you haven't.

Where would people say this stands in relation to Boulerice's cross-check to Kesler? A skate is a more dangerous weapon than a stick and he hit him in just as painful an area and you could argue that there was plenty more intent to injure than Boulerice showed....

He's looking at 30 games, which would make it the longest ever.

..but how much of that is down to being a repeat offender as opposed to being for the actual stamp?

If he wasn't a repeat offender, it would be 15-20 maybe. It was worse than what Downie did.

if buttman and colon accidentally use logic and common sense, Simon should be gone for the rest of the season atleast. but, they'll probably say due to the fact that no limb was amputated, 2 games and $1K fine will suffice.

i think Simons hit on HOllweg was worse than boulerice's, but this skate incident may not be, idk, slippery slope here. He got 25 last time, obviously didn't learn his lesson, dude's looking at like 30, 35 games. If it wasn't him maybe 5-10, but since its him, way more.

Don't forget to add that "he's not wearing orange and black" to that list.

I love that you dont see any Flyers fans all over the NYI boards talking ****.

We're barely in the thread on the main board.

If this was a Flyer we'd be bombarded with trolls.

Well in terms of really big suspensions this year. I guess we can tally it as:

Flyers 2
Rest of League 1

Big one coming, that's not friendly at all. Pretty messed up actually. Any higher and he damn near would have taken his leg off.

damn, just watched the highlight; that's pretty bad....... he'll get a long suspension for this one.

sadly, though, this is just another incident that will be overblown by the media and will become another 'black mark' on hockey

Yeah, that was ugly, and the first thing that popped into my mind after Boulerice tried to turn his stick into a sandwich.

It'll be interesting to see what the NHL does.

Maxim Magazine has an article on Chris Simon in the January issue.

This is a video clip, not the article.

I'd seriously consider banning him for life. The guy clearly doesn't get it. A full calendar year should be the minimum here imo. Any flagrant attack with the stick or skate is serious business.

Im all for suspending him and I do think he is a moron, but a year ban is excessive. Plus if they go by the result of incident Ruutu was not injured. His stick to Hollweg was definitly worse.

Are you being sarcastic, or serious? Because it seems that is all they are really concerned with.

Thats just so clear cut -- if he doesn't get at least 20 games then it only reaffirms the notion that the NHL has it out for the Flyers...I've never seen something so fragrant that could have seriously caused awful, awful damage. 25 games at least for this, if you want to be consistent.
