One thing I wonder is why so many players leave themselves so unprotected. Everyone does that now, with their back to the play. I don't know if it's European influence, a soccer thing, or what, but I remember when players would protect the puck but stay in more of a side posture. There are a lot of hits from behind where a player turns away late. Obviously you have to penalize, but players have to be aware of their position.

crabby, maybe, and with good reason, but i am far from the only one.

nor am i questioning anyones 'logic' or 'credibility, and i did think twice about my response.

It has nothing to do a previous injury. (and i would suggest a dirty martini, witch i am about to go make)

That was my statement (hmm, that little hooked thing on the end also indicates it is a question, does that need explaining as well?).
Look, I understand your statement/rhetorical question. All I'm saying is that they don't necessarily have to be different (i.e., are not mutually exclusive).
You can't seem to fathom why some people think Joe's hit was both deserving of a penalty while simultaneously being dirty. You've been going on about this on two boards for almost a week. I'm just tired, so sorry if I snap occasionally.

This is a problem... It's intentions and not result that should count...

I imagine if McLaren was Boullion's height and size Zednik wouldn't be hurt that much....and it would'nt be such a big deal.

Begin should be supended for that comment, must we have another incident like the MOORE and BERTUZZI ONE.

Hopefully, it's all of the above
I can almost bet you a reporter asked him that if Thornton plays, how will the team contain him. Aslo when I think of that I imagine Begin saying what he sadi with a big grin on his face. He may very well have been joking around.

Intention is an interesting topic in hockey. Split second decisions are considered intention. Perreault turns in neutral zone sees flash of gold and black and brings the stick up. Thornton races in on forecheck, sees red sweater turning on the boards and boom. Mclaren has Zednik lined up, Zed shifts, Mclaren swings out arm.
None of the above left the bench with the intention of mayhem. The line is really fine, some players just cross it more than others. When the same players are always involved, ie Samuellson,Marchment, Suter, you can draw a conclusion. I've always thought Guerin was a guy who crossed the line regularly. Chelios when in Mtl., had no line, how he escaped more suspensions I'll never know. Nobody likes to see their players go down. OTOH, no one likes to see their player ejected and the 'injured' player returning to the ice next shift.

i understand that totally, and i am tired of it too.

I have been goiing on becuasse i am sick of hearing how 'dirty he is' and how 'dirty' that hit was.

I am stubborn, espeically on this one. And as far as my 'going on for over a week', if there werent constant posts on both our boards about the subject, and about how dirty it was, then i wouldnt have anything to go on about.

u say it like i am starting these threads or posts, when in reality i am just not letting someone else get the last word in regaurding how 'dirty and cheap' both Joe and the hit were.

If Joe were the cheap shot dirty player many of u so vehmantly insist he is (and also the complete hot head with a horrible temper) he would have started swinging back at perrault with his stick, witch he did nothing if the sort.

I will continue to defend him on that play as long as there is somethign to defend, i think we are all tired of it though.

And i could say the same, can u fathom why most people who arent montreal fans dont think the hit was dirty or cheap?

And i do understand, that in essence, if a play is dirty or cheap, more than likely it is a penalty (hard to classify something as dirty or cheap but legal, isnt it), were as a play that is a penalty does not necassarily have to be dirty or cheap.
