I know Alot of people on this board like him. I just think he is over rated. Donato has had more of an impact this year to me then P.J has. These are only my opinions, so it probably not worth much. That or Stock Rocks is rubbing off on me.
thanks...i just find it hard to call any 3rd liner "overrated", especially a guy that isn't counted on to really contribute offensively. i have a feeling axe may be one of those guys who puts up big playoff numbers when you least expect it (like pandolfo last year)

Even if he doesn't put up those kind of numbers.. while it would be nice, Sully i believe, has him accustomed to the role he's played this year

Best (all-around) forward: Thornton(Top 3 talent in NHL)
Best (all-around) defenseman: Gonchar(everything we expected with better than advertised D) (Boynton had really bad stretches this year)
Most consistent forward: Knuble(best effort every night)
Most consistent defenseman: Gill (much simpler game has helped and has learned to hit somewhat)
Most improved forward: Bergeron/Knuble (Bergey because he's a rook that got better and didn't hit the wall, Knuble because even though his #'s are down, people are looking for him now, his overall game is even better than last year)
Most improved defenseman: Gill (see earlier comment)
Biggest surprise (good): Bergeron(Duh!)
Biggest disappointments: Zinovjev/Jillson(Great toolboxes, no heart or brains)
Most underrated player: Green when healthy, Donato all year, Raycroft until the all star break, I knew this kid was good and told everybody at the beginning of the year that he was the real deal, also Potvin for being a great mentor for Rayzor)
Most overrated player: Rolston/Murray Both give you the feeling they should be better
Team MVP: Raycroft(Thornton has had better #'s and we failed, goaltending makes the difference)

Best (all-around) forward:Thornton, when he wants to be
Best (all-around) defenseman:Boynton
Most consistent forward:Bergeron
Most consistent defenseman: Gill
Most improved forward:Marty Lapointe, no one is complaining about him now
Most improved defenseman:Boynton
Biggest surprise (good):Bergeron, Teddy Donato
Biggest disappointment:Samsonov, only because of the injury bug holding him back
Most underrated player:Travis Green
Most overrated player:no one
Team MVP:Raycroft

Thornton seems to be somewhat inconsistent, sometimes he dominates, sometimes he is ordinary. Samsonov as "Biggest Disappointment": 2 years in a row, we don;t get to see how much he can do over a full season because he gets hurt....

Last year, people really dogged Lapointe for what he gets paid in comparison to his offensive contribution. This year, he has stepped it up. Maybe not worth $5M, but definitely a huge improvement and much valued play.

Brian Rolston almost got my Disappointment vote: I think he has so much talent and sometimes can't understand why he seems to have maxed out in what he can do.

Travis Green: For awhile, I wondered what the big deal was...this guy wins faceoffs, hits people and picked up his scoring.

Ted Donato: Who expected him to do much? I have to admit, when he is out there on the PK unit, you watch him to see what he will do. He hustles all the time and other players must think he's a pain in the ass.

Best (all-around) forward: Joe Thornton
Best (all-around) defenseman: Nick Boynton
Most consistent forward: Mike Knuble
Most consistent defenseman: Sean O'Donnell for the season. Hal Gill since Chara fight.
Most improved forward: Travis Green and Ted Donato
Most improved defenseman: Dan McGillis
Biggest surprise (good): Patrice Bergeron
Biggest disappointments: Brian Rolston (he's still decent but compared to the past couple of years he's looked pretty bad--particularly since December. What happened to all the clutch goals?????)
Most underrated player: PJ Axelsson--See the game @ Jersey? What forechecking! He is VERY much needed when you are holding a lead. And Sergei Samsonov can never get enough respect IMO. He can create more things out there than 98 percent of guys in the league. A lot of the chances fall through...but at least he can start them--most guys just toss it in the zone.
Most overrated player: Glen Murray (he's quite good...but misses the puck and the net too often to be called a "sniper" or to be relied on as such)
Team MVP: Andrew Raycroft

Not for nothing....I got called out for saying P.J Axelson was the most over rated player on the Bruins. While most in this thread stated that Glen Murray (you know the leading goal scorer of the Bruins for the past 3 years) was the most overrated. Since I am clearly in the minority in thinking...can someone explain what overrated means? How do you get better then having the most goals on a team? Should he double his production to equal average rating....methinks somehting is going on here.
