Bruins Transactions

If the Mods feel this should be a sticky please feel free as I will update after each significant transaction so we can see a chronological history.

Hey folks,

Since every move made by the team is scrutinized, debated and revisited quite regularly I thought I would start a thread with all the trades made by the team since Peter Chiarelli was hired as GM and keep track of all his moves or his successor going forward.

Another reason I did this was there always seems to be questions from various folks asking what we received in return in certain trades or what the actual details were.

I always like to see the transactions the Bruins have made over the years. I find it interesting to look back to see what assets we acquired in trades as well as see what assets we gave up (ie draft picks) etc..

If there are any I am missing please let me know.

Note: I will update the original post 24-48hrs after a trade etc has been completed. This is to make sure I can get clarification around any conditional deals etc....

Nice post, was very interested in reading this. Shows Chia made a lot of questionable deals but also made some good deals like Auld,Noke, and shows he did pretty well with the coaching situations.Keep em coming.

Espcially Mowers for 2 Defense Prospects, and the signing of Metropolit.

Good idea for a thread... Gives a solid picture of what has gone on in the past year and a half. Keep it up.

But if my Goalie thread doesn't get a sticky, this better not...

Very nice thread. Glad someone put the work in, b/c Lord know I wouldn't have .

I think this is sticky worthy. This and the P-Bruins thread should probably be up there. I know we have a lot, but if they're worth being easy to find, then they should be.

I hadn't noticed that, but thanks for pointing it out.

And that reminds me, it's almost time for a new avatar... I'll have to think up something creative in the next few days.

Next trade; Axelson or Kessel out??
Kind of said on and off, but here is a small article http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/bos071227.html

Quote:
The Bruins continue their search for some outside assistance, but GM Peter Chiarelli hasn't found a deal worth making yet, the Boston Herald reports.

Having gone 1-4-1 in their last six games, the Bruins are starting to slump and key injuries to several key players has played a factor in the team's recent slide.

Chiarelli is working the phones and trying to find the right deal(s) to make, but there doesn't appear to be any teams very eager to find a trading partner.

"We have a couple of things in (the works) but these things have been going on for a month or so," Chiarelli told the Herald.

"They are still ongoing and when either side wants to make it a deal, we might be able to get something done. I'm having discussions.

Chiarelli hinted the team could part with some of its prospects and draft picks, but he'd prefer to move some of his roster players for the right offer.

On Wednesday, the Boston Globe reported the Bruins could part with one of Phil Kessel or P.J. Axelsson in order to fill other holes on the roster.
Kessel is young and has a long way to go, therefore, we should keep him. Axelson has done so much for this team, therefore, it will be hard - for me to say the least - to see him dealt.

Not sure if you can call this a loss however considering we traded a 3rd round pick I can see why you could consider it a loss. Especially if you consider that Cross could still have been on the board if they didn't trade up. Kudos for Chicago as they got 2 decent prospects out of it.

I call it a loss. Oscar Moller was still on the board as were several other forwards who would likely be better long term additions. Tommy Cross may end up being good, but hard to project. He still has another year of prep school and is coming off knee problems.

Not frequently and we got nothing for him. We lost the 4th rounder in another trade. That is NOT a win.

With that type of reasoning we can defend anything Chiarelli does. LOSS.

Boyes for Wideman a draw? Wow.

The Sauve deal was not a draw because he actually played for us which was a negative. Joey MacDonald in the "win" column?

Skinner and Saunders for Mowers. But your logic says that guys who have scored an NHL goal trump those who have not. Cant have it both ways.

Yes a draw because it's too early to declare a winner. Boyes is playing well, Wideman is playing well.

Joey MacDonald in the "win" column?
Yes, because we got him for nothing. We gave up Jurcina for nothing, which you considered a loss. Cant have it both ways.

Two things to consider--Boyes is on a 50 goal pace. Second, we could have gotten a struggling Dennis Wideman for less.

Except Jurcina went on and played well and still has potential. Joey MacDonald played poorly and went on to be Joey MacDonald. Big difference.

Second on his team in blocked shots and hits. He is still young and was mismanaged. How can people not see this?

I agree he was definately "Miscoached" which lead to a poor trade. He could have fetched us a better return had he played more minutes under a better coached team [whereby he would have had more success]. I do believe he would have eventually been traded in 2007 due to the pending D-talent in 2008.
