Now that the new year is upon us, teams are finally free to sign their players to extensions. I would have to imagine they are already working on a long term deal for Hank, but who else do you think will be signed over the next few weeks/months...Rozsival, Avery, Tyutin, Girardi? Someone else?

Hank. No Hank and Avery or any of the others are pretty much irrelevant.

Hank now, Toots & Girardi after the season ends, wait to see what Avery wants. Rosie, meh.

I would lock up Hank and Rozie before the off-season. I think Tyutin and Girardi should be easy to deal with after the season. Avery is what worries me...

The January 1 date concerns players under 1 year contracts(Lundqvist and Avery). The other players under more than 1 year deals could have signed extensions on July 1,2007

It's gotta be Hank. I don't want the specter of an acrimonious negotiation hanging over his head. Get it done and get it done now.

Henrik now, everyone else can wait until after the season. There's no question about that. We cannot risk having Henrik reach free agency again even if its restricted. Everyone else is re-signable.

While I agree that Henrik is the most important, and should be signed now, I still think that it would be worth looking into locking up some of the other guys as well. Rosy and Avery could get big bucks on the open market if they shop around...and even though he's a RFA, Tyutin could get a pretty nice offer sheet as well.

That's true, they can. And that's part of the reason why it's unlikely that they will sign now. And if they do, you need to pay them to forego free agency. And that would be tough for a guy like Avery.
