Jessiman was AWFUL last night. Watch the tape again. He fell over almost every shift and a 5'10 (admittedly a tough crazy guy but still) took him down in a fight that he instigated. So much for those boxing lessons... he needs to work on his balance and leg strength first. My take away from last night is that Hugh is not ready for the NHL (obviously) but even worse... he probably isn't even going to make a very good AHL player this year. Everyone has given up on his offensive ability (with good reason) and is ready to make this guy a 4th line banger/tough guy... but he isn't capable of that now and may never be.

That's going to be one thing that Jessiman is going to have figure out even if he does progress.

I don't think he has the natural offensive ability or hockey sense to be a top-six forward but he's going to have to bring something to the table with size and better defense to make it as a third liner.

It goes back to a problem I had with the Jessiman pick 4 years ago to be honest with you. I just never saw an NHL player in Hugh.

Having said that, one way or the other this year will determine whether he's even taking steps forward. I don't know what the Rangers internal watermark is but I'd venture a guess that anything short of 15 goals and 30 points at the AHL level this season and Hugh's not coming back.

I've seen this guy in some AHL games and I honestly don't see NHL potential in him. I think the best thing for his career would be to move to Europe, then he could be a hero in Sweden or Finland, I think that would be a lot better than being in AHL for the rest of his career.

That's good considering he has 19 points (9-10-19) in 36 games. And I think I remember he had a really slow start so he's has definitely picked it up a notch this season.

This article lists the best/worst value picks first among active players and then by all time. What do you guys think of Hugh being listed as one of the top five worst value picks among players active?

Sorry if this has already been posted - the article is from 6/25.
Jessiman is an Isbister clone.

So bring his ass up! Imagine Renney taking him from the ECHL, AHL, to putting him on the first line

I would like to see Jessiman called up just because he brings a size dimension that we lack and he will be an upgrade to Orr or Hollweg. Some players really thrive at the NHL level - maybe Jessiman is one of those guy's.

I remember hearing the same quote from someone last year about Girardi. I think Jessiman would be an upgrade from Orr or Hollweg on the fourth line. Jessiman will have to learn to be a good defensive forward and learn how to be tough.

Defensive technique can surely be taught, and Jessiman seems a teachable kid from all reports. I wonder, though, if "toughness" can be learned.

I think he has enough toughness....its his fighting ability and scrappiness that need work!

Fighting technique can be taught, too, if need be - but I don't see that ever being Jessiman's role.

As with toughness, can you teach someone how to be "scrappy?"

All you people talking about bringing Hugh Jessiman need to get your brains examined.

Did you not see him in pre-season?

The guy can't skate for his life, was horrible at fighting, and just isin't a great hockey player.

The time passed for him to try and make it. Hes done.

It seems on this forum that alot of people who don't actually play hockey seem to make ignorant posts such as wanting Hugh Jessiman to be called up.

He will never be in the NHL, get used to it.
