That was a steal for the Avs, Nolan was coming off a big year, but alot had to do with who he was skating with. Ozolinsh was the missing element from the Avs. They had good teams in Quebec, but after Duchesne left, they never had that PP QB.

SJ fleeced the Leafs pretty bad for Nolan about 7 years later and well past his prime. When you factor in contract and age, McCauley straight up for Nolan was a fair deal, but SJ also landed Boyes and a 1st

Yeah but then the Sharks turned around and delt both of those extra assets so it bassicly became a straight up deal.

Nolan's game has helped the leafs even on nights where he doesn't find the scoresheet he's out there being a physical presence, naturally he's not the Dominating power forward from years past but Nolan's still a damn good hockey player who can compete at a high level.

Yeah but the Sharks got assets for those things too. Assets the leafs could have had.

They turned Brad Boyes into Curtis Brown, and while I think that was overpayment, Brown is a solid veteran checker who is going to help them in the playoffs and has scored big goals in the past.

And I believe the Leafs pick ended up with the Oilers after all the trading, they took Pouliot, but who knows who the Leafs would have taken, probably an ONT kid like Stewart or Perry

I think we're underrating Nolan's value to the leafs here, it's not like when the Leafs made the deal they knew he'd have 2 huge injuries. The injuries were fluke accidents as well, this is no Petr Forsberg or Vince Carter. It's too bad though, because people would've saw how amazing Nolan is to the Leafs compared to what McCauly would've done.

I still love McCauley, wish he didn't had to go, as much as I like Nolan
