Man, let the guys play

It seems like every time I flip from one game to another there is a Power Play going on. I would like to see these guys play some hockey instead of 5 on 4 the whole game. 10 PP's in the 1st period for San Jose!?

Man tell these brainless players to follow the rules and not take penalties.

I agree, if this is what it takes to get rid of all the obstruction and interference crap than do it

While I agree with this statement...the time to call games like this is during the exhibition and regular season games.

The playoffs is not the time for the NHL to have its officials impose new crackdowns.

it's gotten even worse since the regular season. it's like tackle football out there.

playoffs should be more physical, but the players think it means they can clutch and grab more without getting called.

I disagree. A crackdown during the playoffs sends a much bigger message than a crackdown during the regular season. It also prevents trapping teams from completely dominating, which leads to boring playoffs (like last year).

Actually, calling more obstruction helps trapping teams. The last team to go anywhere by trapping via obstruction was the 1996 Florida Panthers.

I would agree, but I have been seeing too many phantom penalties in the playoffs this year.

Some complaining about too few calls, others complaining about too many calls.

Sounds about just right to me.

Game is not played nor called the way it once was, but things change, you know?

The playoffs certainly have been exciting through 4 days, regardless.

As long as the refs are consistent, I don't have a problem with the way games are being called.

I hated that team so much that I actually cheered for the Leafs against them when I saw them live. They were with out question the most boring hockey team I have ever watched and it pissed me off that I paid good money to watch that boring crap, err trap.

that team took out boston, philly, and pittsburgh on their way to the finals. it wasn't just the trap. it was a trap filled with obstruction, clutching, grabbing, hooking. nj can at least play a somewhat clean trap.

To me it just seems like there's been a whole lot of penalites. I just hate to see games with 13 PP's. And stupid calls like the one Langenbrunner got to ruin the finish of Game 2 of NJ vs. PHI.

An elbow to a players head is not a stupid call. Kapanen pushed the puck past Langenbrunner and was trying to follow it into the Devils zone. Which Langenbrunner didn't like since the Devils were trying to pull Brodeur and they were having troubles getting the puck into the Flyers zone and hadn't been able to pull him. Langenbrunner just elbowed him in the head. Don't blame the ref. Blame a player for loosing his cool. The Devil's couldn't get Brodeur off the ice because the Flyers outworked them and Langenbrunner lost his cool and elbowed a player in the head.

And besides all the other stuff that gets let go, the refs should have called earlier ones as White for an elbow to LeClair's face that was blatent. And Reonick was taken down on a breakaway.

Not to mention Brodeur stuck his leg out and tripped Primeau yet Primeau got called for interference.

The refs need to make call. They just need to make them evenly.
The refs
