I sit up in the 300s about 4 rows below the 400s and I can tell you that the people around and above me are extemely loud in their booing of Malik (although not tonight). Generally, in my experience--which is extensive and includes sitting mostly in the 300s and 400s, but occasionally in the lower bowl, most of the noise, chanting, etc, comes from higher up, rather than from the "suits".

Tonight was probably the first time all season where the Rangers fans didn't really rib on anyone on our team and it really turned into an Us vs. Them kind of deal. We all stuck together and really gave it to them. It was awesome.

If a team needs the fans cheering to win, they dont deserve to win.

I'm getting a little tired of how fake the fans are at the Garden with what the Rangers are doing on the ice. Yes... they're not playing "up to par"... however, bring some positiveness to the team and maybe, just maybe they'll respond with some positive outcomes.

I get just as uptight as the majority on this board when players like Malik get the puck... but I'm sick of using him or any other one player as an escape goat for our failure(s). I appreciate the posters here that remind us not to hit "the sky is falling" button... WE ARE FANS... we need to support these guys...

I've also noticed a lot of posts lately mezmorized by the fact that everyone in a slump on the other team breaks that slump when they play us (for the sake of this post, the slump being broken at MSG), can it possibly be that the other team/player gains the confidence knowing they can take the crowd out of the game by making one Ranger look bad and the Garden chants the boos??

I don't know if it's the MSG network turning down the arena's mics, but they're were so many times during the game last night, it was SO quite I can hear Hollweg and Betts asthma...

Before people start attacking me, no, I do not go to games regularly... of course I'd like to go more... but the fans need to stop demanding everyone's head on a plate when they don't score on every shift. We're being so uptight we're making the players paranoid to make a mistake... in turn they're second guessing themselves...

To conclude... I have to say this is the first time in a LONG time that this team atleast TRIES, and even tries different things... changing players on lines... scratching players (even ones with hefty contracts)... play defensively instead of HAVING to score 6 or more goals a game.... I know post lockout year set the standard for what Jagrs team can/should do.... but that doesn't mean we're supposed to by ten times better by now winning every game by 3 goals (this isn't EA Sports NHL 96).

Forgive me if my rambling thoughts are quite random... LONG day at work and already boozing it up...

My last 50 Vbucks says hes an ISles fan in disguise.

I only join in once in a blue moon, but I normally don't take part in it and never whistle it (I can't whistle well enough anyway). I'd prefer that if it's a negative chant that it's against the team we're actually playing.

.

The Potvin sucks chants is done way to much...but whatever. As for the crowd last night there was an us against them mentality with all those Habs fans making noise. Any time they started they were drowned out very quickly. That said its was annoying as hell seeing that many opposing team sweaters around but bad part of snubhub I guess. Although than again it makes for a more vocal crowd that won't boo and only cheer.

I am just glad the Rangers jumped out to a big lead last night and didn't let Montreal score till the 3rd. If you have ever been to a game when Montreal is in town and they are winning, their fans are really annoying. They start singing that damn ole, ole, ole soccer song and chanting some french crap.

were the Montreal fans singing Ole Ole Ole all night?
And yes, Le Habs bring the most incredible looking away support to any Rangers game at MSG.

Not that i heard. Thats why i was glad that the Rangers jumped out to an early lead. We taunted them by singing it while we were leaving the garden.

Yeah they were doing it, I was sitting right next to them. They were relentless all night, but funny and respectable.

Yeah. Two of them were 17, the other two I think were 19. I forget, the girl with the Hab shirt and the girl with Pink Floyd shirt were 17.

The only time I ever start the whistle tune is when the game first starts to get the fans going. Usually midgame I do Lets Go Ranger chants or Henrik! Henrik!
