How do you guys like Gomez?

Just curious since there is a debate in Flyerland as to the impact of Briere.

Is Gomez simply a beneficiary of playing with Jagr or is he earning his dough?

Jagr has been a beneficiary of playing with Gomez.

while I don't think he is earning $7+ mil, he has been our best forward on the season. He is playing better w/ Jagr but he has played great basically the entire season. Definately does deserve to be getting most money from the Rangers this year but I don't think it should be $7 mil.

Has he only played with Jagr and has he elevated the games of others?

No most of the season he spent w/ Shanny on the 2nd line. He has elevated Shanny's game as well as Jagrs game. He brings speed and energy w/ him for every game. He is really enjoying to watch. Basically everybody he has played w/ has played better w/ him. I think its because he actually makes people move instead of just sitting in one area. Gomez is constantly buzzing around.

He played most of this season...

with Shanny and Avery, not Jagr. It was his insertion into that line that seemed to make those guys play better. Jagr's come alive a bit of late, and some of it has to do with Gomez getting back to playing his game instead of the game of constantly deferring to Jagr (i.e., playing with more comfort). Has he earned his $7MM? It's tough to put prices into this. He has been one of the Rangers' best forwards, if not the best forward this season. He leads in points, and that wasn't really expected, and a lot of it has come from his hard work. Drury, on the other hand, I would say isn't earning his keep and hasn't made anyone better.

Gomez has been the best Ranger by a significant margin in my mind... I think all Rangers fans will feel similar in that Gomez has been great.

As mentioned, Gomez has played most with Shanny. Only recently with Jagr. Fantastic player though that can do so much offensively and defensively.

Gomez has very few flaws to his game.

I've been very impressed with Gomez' play. He hasn't been nearly as "tight" as Drury has, although I expect Drury to relax more now that he's finding his game again.

The "excuse" for Briere is he hasn't had Gagne, but the Flyers are getting scoring from all over and it seems to come from guys playing with Richards or just after they were moved from his line. The lines have been rotated constantly, so no excuses for Briere, and Richards has 5 more points than Briere, plus he's +12 to Briere's -11, same goals and assists on the PP.

Briere is on a Point/Game pace, but largely without impact. It is the quietest 43 points I've ever seen. He scored a goal recently and I couldn't remember the last time he did, or even an assist that made the difference.

Don't know if the Flyers ever had a chance at Gomez, but he may be the best of that crop. Maybe by far if Gagne doesn't actually cure what ails Briere.

What is all this obsession with how much money the guy makes? And where do you guys get off talking about who is "worth" it?

I know it effects the cap, but this isn't a fantasy league. You get who you can get that will help the team at the time that you can do it. The whole "worth it" argument is purely subjective no?

If he turns out to be instrumental in getting us the Cup, will he have been "worth it"?

Exactly. Jagr has honestly floated alot at times during the season while I can't ever remember a shift that Gomez didn't give his all on. Simply put, the guy is probably the best free agent signing in about 10 years.....and that's not saying much considering some of the teams between 97 and 05, but he's been worth the money.

Gomez wouldn't be on this team if he was making 6, 5, 4,3 ,2 or 1 million.

Where can you find Daniel Briere?

Gomez is one of my favorite players on the team.

Never takes a shift off, plays both ends of the ice superbly, makes the players around him better, etc etc. I'd like to see him get one of the A's next year, to be honest. He seems like a real leader with his speech of how they've let the younger guys down with their play at times.

Couldn't be happier with this guy.

Scott Gomez has easily been the Rangers best forward and one of the better players in the league this season.

If everyone played up to their abilities as he does, we wouldn't be struggling.

Scott Gomez was always one of my favorite players while he was a Devil.

But 10 Million Dollars this season is tough to justify. Being the Best forward doesn't mean he is worth the Money....Zach PArise is our best forward....I'd rather see him walk than pay him 10Million a season for 80 points

Average/Cap Hit (7,357,143)

2007-08 $10,000,000
2008-09 $8,000,000
2009-10 $8,000,000
2010-11 $8,000,000
2011-12 $7,500,000
2012-13 $5,500,000

We're really sick of the money debate. Nobody on these boards has a say in the contracts offered to players, if it wasn't us that gave Gomez 7 a year, someone else would of.

Point is he's played great. We'll leave it at that. Ranger fans love the guy.

Can't put a price on intangibles. Does Parise bring intangibles with his points?

Who gives a flying **** about 10M when his cap hit is 7.3M? Really? Who cares? That number means nothing except to critics and rival fans.

Actually YES Parise does.....And For 10 Million I'd carry his bags to the airport and put in to 40 point players for 1.2 Million total and be better off

Good. That's your opinion, glad you shared it with us.

Gomez > Parise. Contracts aside. More for our team.

That's my opinion, BYE.
