All Star snubs

So its getting to all star time and there was a thread on the NHL forum about who the biggest snub was this season. This got me wondering who has been snubbed the worst for the all star game in history? I do not mean somebody who never got selected I mean who was dominating the league the most and missed selection for that year? any names or stories would be great. Sorry if this has been covered.

I don't recall any ridiculous snubs off the top of my head, but the most ridiculous selection was Bure in 1996. He was voted as a starter despite going down with a season ending knee injury in the beginning of November.

didn't Hasek get in a few years ago with only having 8 games or something?

In 1991 Mike Milbury took a lot of heat for naming Chris Nilan to the Wales Conference team. Some accused him of showing favoritism to Nilan because they were both with the Bruins at the time, though Milbury claimed it was just a way of giving a hard-working player some recognition at the game for a change.

What really upset fans about the decision though was that Milbury had left Denis Savard off the team. While Savard was having a disappointing first year with Montreal, the game was being held in Chicago which should've made him an obvious choice. Who would the Chicago fans have rather seen?

As it turned out, Nilan injured his ankle about a week before the game and Savard was added to the team as a replacement.

I heard that in that same 1991 All-Star game, Ed Belfour got snubbed by John Muckler even though he was head and shoulders above Vernon and Ranford.

Anybody remember that?

just looked it up on wiki...that was the last time 2 goalies have been on the all star teams...muckler suggested going to 3 goalies...each getting a period ..and the league changed to that rule

In recent years I'd say Marc Savard has been deserving but is always left off the team.
