I would think it would be a bit of a long shot. As much as the kid sounds like a player, I can't see where he would fit in the lineup. Even after injuries, would you put him in ahead of a guy like Langfeld?

I think he'd be better off staying in College next year. He could become even more of the "go-to guy" as his Brother and Voce graduate this year.

I like the idea of Eaves turning professional next season. A future PK of Eaves-Vermette sounds really nice. I highly doubt Eaves would get any playing time in the playoffs, however, it would be nice to bring him along for the playoffs, get him involved with the team emotionally, sort of what they did for Vermette and Emery last season.

I agree, let him hang around the team. No one would expect him to get in a game, but it would be invaluable to have him see first hand a playoff run and the hard work it takes day in and day out. Win or lose for Ottawa, it would be fantastic experience that will benefit the player and the team. A series win by Ottawa against the Sens arch-nemesis, the Leafs, would be big for him to witness from the inside, and a series loss (god forbid...) would show Eaves the disappointment of such a loss and how hard it is to win even with an excellent team.

Not that it will happen, but imagine the uproar if they signed him and put him in a game while Spezza sits out as a healthy scratch? That might force Spezza's hand to publicly demand a trade.
