I think we'd be foolish to go after another center when we have 3 solid ones already at our disposal.

Try Marty St. Louis instead. Hell even Dan Boyle when he has his hand sewn back on or whatever the hell it is.

Plus, isn't Richards super tight with Vinny Lecavalier? I doubt they'd want to upset their star player by trading away his brother from another mother. I think that's half the reason they threw so much money at Richards in the first place.

Jagr, Montoya, Mara, Malik and a 2nd

for

St. Louis and Boyle

We get: a proven 35+ goal scorer and a good puck moving d-man.

They get: A goalie who could possibly be good in the NHL, a tall d-man who likes to turn the puck over, a guy with a cannon from the point but never gets to use it, and a hall of fame player for their news papers to write about when he isn't scoring goals.

lol

No way. I'd do Monty+Prucha+Baranka for St. Louis...

Straka - Gomez - Jagr
Shanny - Drury - St. Louis
Dawes - Dubinsky - Avery
Hollweg - Betts - Orr

That doesn't look too bad.

It seems that Richards, if anything, would definitely be the first to go unless some team is willing for a gross overpayment for Lecavalier. What would it take for the Rangers to land Richards?

the obvious need for Tampa:
-goaltending (which we only really have a prospect--see: Montoya)
-defense (we have...Malik)
-second line offense (prucha, dawes)

To Tampa:
Montoya, Malik, Baranka, prucha/dawes

To Rangers:
Richards and a 3rd, taking 1.8 mil of his salary (ala Jagr from WAS)

Because our first line is just starting to gel, I'd put richards on the second line and put him or drury on wing. This would ease the retirement of Shanahan/Straka, but we would have no cap space to sign one of the big gun UFAs (Hossa) this summer.

I agree with the poster that said having Drury and Richards is kinda redundant.

We need wingers.

I love Richards' game and would love him on the Rangers, but he would not fit in the lineup or in the cap.

No?

Roughly..
7M -Gomez
7M - Drury
6-7M Lundqvist (probably)
B.Richards - 7.8?

Tampa is a good goalie and a healthy Boyle away from being a 95-win team again. The trio they have locked up is still young and skilled. I say keep em together and trade Hlavac and Kuba for Pronger and Giguere. Yeah, that's the ticket.

We need a number one goaltender, not a prospect.

No deal.

Wait, if tampa wins 16 playoff games, then mathematically it is possible to win 95 games in an NHL season. Actually, only Tortarella thinks his team is good enough to win 95 games.

With his cap hit... heck no

If he was making 5 million then he'd be worth a ton. Otherwise, no way in hell we can even squeeze him in

Not a very realistic proposal, is it...

oh great another let's trade malik and prucha for a "superstar" thread. why would tampa do that? explain it to me? and better yet how the **** would the rangers fit his huge salary? and they don't need montoya they are giving ramo a shot, and they will give him a long hard look before they give up on him. ramo is 21 years old they will give it time. i can't wait for next week's new proposal: "malik and prucha for thornton and cheechoo"

that might be one of the smallest lines in history... i kinda think that St. Louis is overrated personally. i think he is more of a product of playing w/ Lecalvalier than his own ability. Don't get me wrong I think he is a good player but I don't think he is that great a player.
