Hot Stove/Last Night?

I didn't get to watch the game last night, was there anything newsworthy on the Hot stove in between periods? Habs news or any news that was interesting?

I don't really remember details, but they talked about the Tanguay rumours

They said that Koivu's name came up, they also talked about Jokinen wanting to gtfo of Florida.

They also talked about some negotiations between some Russian league and the NHL, about rookie players that don't make the NHL be allowed to go back to play in Russia or something like that...

To be clear, Al Strachan brought Koivu, Ryder and Kovalev up as potential pieces of a Tanguay puzzle, thus proving once again that Al Strachan is still an idiot.

Sure why not all three for Tanguay

Not sure how Kovalev or Koivu gives the Flames salary cap relief for next season. Strachan's a strange bird.

If Strachan said it, that means they aren't going anywhere. Worse than Eklund!!!

Not to defend the rumour, but the million dollar difference between Tanguay and Koivu/Kovy could mean a lot as far as resigning Phaneuf and Huselius. And acquiring Koivu would mean they could let Langkow go.

That said, I don't really see the advantage from the Habs end, unless the Flames threw in more (a young forward like Lombardi or Boyd), which doesn't seem likely. Or unless Koivu's finally had enough of this insane (wonderful, but insane) city, and wants out.

Like that needs any proof. That has been a foregone conclusion ever since he started writing.

Strachan brought up the rumours swirling and discounted trading Koivu or Kovy. I am no Strachan fan, but he answered the question right. There would be no point in a deal like that. How do you finish ahead on the deal?

P.J. Stock was not on the Hot Stove last night. Steve Simmons wrote the following in today's London Free Press:

"Memo to P.J. Stock: Your 15 minutes of fame are up. Time to bring Eric Duhatschek and some credibility back to the Hockey Night Hot Stove."

There was a can of beans on the hot-stove last night. This may explain the smell that still lingers in the Bell Centre after yesterday's game.

I was in a bar, so its possible I misheard him. I could have sworn he threw the three out as possibilities.

Either way, he's still an idiot
