Leading defensemen in hits and blocked shots has to earn ya some recognition. 12 points and +5 along the way doesn't hurt either.

Actually he just reads his pre-written speech off his teleprompter word for word during the 2nd intermission.

From the article: The breakthrough player on defence for me this season is Montreal Canadiens defenceman Mike Komisarek. While everyone has been talking about his blueline partner Andrei Markov being an All-Star, it's because of Komisarek.
This is a very good analysis: everyone thinks that Komi is better because of Markov's talent... but what if its the other way around?

Komi protecting Markov made him gain confidence and grow to becoming a star. And its quite plausible since if i had Komi as a partner on D, i would be quite calm and collected.

I think having Komi emerge as a shutdown force defensively definetely lets Markov take a few more offensive chances.

Last year Markov was only good because of Souray... it's all we could hear on TSN.

Although I love Komi and everything he brings to this pairing, you have to give Markov some credit at some point. Markov has been this team's best D since the first time he put on the CH sweater.. and if you look at it the other way, Komi's huge progression started when he was paired with Markov.

And yes, Komi's a freaking monster!

You're right: Souray cast a shadow over Markov. But what i like is that Markov always plays great alongside Komi. And that just might mean he feels secure.

And that doesnt negate any of his natural talent.

And Komi is also developping into a great D-Man; thanks to Markov i'd say.

It's a symbyotic relation.

It's definetly not the other way around. We've all seen Markov play at a high level since 2002-2003(the year after was tough for him) and he's been elite since the lockout regardless of who he was paired with.

Komisarek's developement was lagging until he was paired with Markov. It was then that he had a partner who could repair his mistakes. Markov hasn't been the defensive rock he was last year, but look at Komi's first reaction when he's pressured: a pass behind the net to Markov who gets it out.

Exactly, im glad he's giving Komisarek huge props but he's pushing it too far.

Btw Komi last game was one of his best performence in the NHL imo.

Markov is taking a lot more chances because he's seen how Komi has progressed.
Last year, Komi was still doing a lot of mistakes and started to really come around at the end of last season. But Markov was a lot more conscious of his D.
Now that Komi is becoming one of our best D, Markov is thinking more offensively which causes him to be a bit less effective on D.
But Komi is not better than Markov, and Markov has been an all-star for at least 2years. He's getting his recognition this year though.

But i still dont think he gets the credit he derserves.

I don't think he actually writes taht. I think it's a transcription, just like Jacques Demers at RDS.
Not that he cannot write... IMO, he just talks to a guy who writes it up for him.

Sorry for trolling, but if memory serves me correctly he does a Madden-style full team. 12 forwards, 6 defense and 2 goalies, plus the monster of the year...

Here's the link http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=11006&hubname=nhl

and here's the team

Forwards
Alexander Ovechkin - Sidney Crosby - Martin St. Louis

Zach Parise - Daymond Langkow - Dustin Penner

Jordan Staal - Mike Fisher - Chris Clark

Matt Cooke - Blair Betts - Chris Neil

Defense
Dion Phaneuf - Anton Volchenkov

Karlis Skrastins - Shea Weber

Kevin Bieksa - Brendan Witt

Goalies
Roberto Luongo - Jamie McLennan

MONSTER OF THE YEAR
SIDNEY CROSBY
