OT Suspension? (Kovalchuk Suspended 1 Game)

Does anybody else think that Kovalchuk should be suspended for that hit on Rosy?

I really think that he should get 10 games. He left his feet, had plenty of time to stop and hit him directly from behind. This is exactly the time of play that could end careers. If Colin Campbell had a set of cajones I think that Kovy should get a suspension of at least 10 games. It shouldn't make a difference if the player getting suspended is a star player, or if the player who was hit didn't get severly injured. The play was dirty and warrants a lengthy punishment to act as deterrent.

Unfortunately I think Colin will say that since Rosy didn't get injured Kovalchuk will only get 2 or less games. Maybe even none. I think it is bs if that happens though.

And no I don't feel this way just b/c of a Ranger being the hitee. I think the league should crack down on players who give cheap shots no matter who they are. The league so far has done a decent job w/ the flyers players (although i think those should have been stiffer suspensions). Just wondering what everbody else thinks on this.

I'd say anywhere from 2-5 games would be sufficient. If he hadn't skated like halfway through the zone and leapt off his feet at Rozsival, I'd say only one game, but the NHL can't only give him a game and let other players see that they can do the same and only get a single game. It didn't happen tonight, but under the right conditions that could be a career-ending hit.

I think he will be, but the length I would say under 5. Probably 1 MAYBE 2.

No games. Any Ranger fan saying he realistically deserves to be suspended is a homer.

I'm not saying he deserves it, but he will probably get, or rather he should. I'll try to explain what I mean lol. Basically if the league wants to keep uniformity as far as suspensions go, they should treat every player the same regardless of their "super stardom". The hit by Philly's Jones was a similar play, but he didn't leave his feet. I think he got one or two games, so I would think that Kovy should get a similar sentence for lack of a better word. Right, wrong, I dont know, but I can see him getting one(a suspension).

I personally think it's going to be 1-2 games, and I would be utterly surprised if it's more than that. I might be more surprised if there's no suspension. But I don't think it'll be a lot.

its not the hit i was upset about - its the fact that rozival barley played the puck and about 2 seconds had gone bye when he came barreling in and hit him. It was clear he wasnt following the puck.

I couldn't really see it because I was sitting on the other side. Now that I look at it though, that has to be a suspension. At least a game

What the hell was Kovalchuk thinking anyway. That's as greedy a play as I've seen considering his importance to the team

Looks like a pretty bad check, combination of charging and boarding.

3 games IMO. Kovy's never really been a dirty player player. If it was someone with a bad record, 5-10 games.

I'd be awfully surprised if this draws a suspension, I don't think it should. Not saying that I wouldn't be appreciative if it came just in time for Leetch night

Suspension for what?

Those hits happen every game.

Blame the glass.

I think the 5 minute major and game misconduct was sufficient.

I say 1 game, it is almost a must. My reason is because it was a hit from behind and he left his feet...after listening to the last Ranger game vs Boston Sam and Joe were commenting about how the NHLPA leaders were going around urging players to stop hits from behind. The NHL should take a stand and suspend just to show they wont hesitate to suspend a player for a blatant penalty like that and possibly even an intent to injure.

I would love the 1 game suspension. Eliminating the other team's best player for the game on Thursday would be huge.

Not suspenion worthy. Kovalchuk and his team already were punished enough by not having their best player on the ice for the vast majority of a game against a Rangers team they're battling for playoff position.
