he's lost a step, but he's still a very very good player, hope he sticks around, hope he hits 700 goals, would love to see him hit 1800 points, but that might be a stretch.

It will be interesting to see if he does it in more or fewer games than Espo.

May also pass Sakic since he might be done for the season.

Nice, didn't know Jagr was this high on the list.

It's amazing how many points Lemieux has with so many fewer games played than the other players listed.

i wouldn't be too sure about that.

you figure he's got at least 2 years left in the nhl, probably 3. 150 points is quite reachable.

I have no doubt in my mind that if he plays an extra 2 years after this one, he will reach 7th at least...

Thing is he won't play 2 years let alone 3.

Probably won't even play next year.

He'll pass Joe Sakic, and that's a great accomplishment.

a) stop smoking crack
b) you spelled cherepanov's name wrong

he's gonna hit his 80 point trigger and play for us next year when we open the season in prague. and he will play 2 years after that, he's only turning 36 now, he's no dinosaur.

Don't know what that was for, but ok.

In response, Cherepanov didn't work, but thanks for attempting to humiliate me?

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, if you think he'll play 3, you think he'll play 3.

I think there's more of a chance he won't play next year than will and if that happens there isn't a chance he'll play another.

I find it rather ironic that the 38 points he still needs to trigger his option is the exact number of points he needs to beat Sakic to 8th place all-time at 1612 points. Of course, Sakic won't stay where he is, but still..

what are you kidding? if he plays next year, that'll be it. he's already stated that he's going to retire when he feels he isn't contributing to the team as much as he feels he should, and that he's likely to finish his career back home.

With 41 games in hand and 16 points behind (17 to pass) I think it's pretty safe to say he'll do it in fewer games.

He damn well better. He has to get 17 points in 40 games or less to do so.

EDIT -- Damn you, CCCP!

i don't understand those who think this guy is gonna hang em up at age 37, he is still a ppg guy (at least). with a year playing with gomez under his belt, he should at the very least be as productive next season as he is now, if not more productive over the course of the season. are we watching the same player? he can still go, there's no question.
