Let's see, I'm sure somebody could search the archive and find me saying something like this last year: "Elias and Gomez just don't work together. Maybe get a guy like Jozef Stumpel to center Patrik".

They're probably the hottest line since the All-Star break, but I'm not sure I'd be ready to annoint them the best line in hockey.

Something good can be given too much credit. It happens all the time here at HF.

They didn't play against the Primeau line last night. Also 3 of the 4 goals came on the PP and not at even strength.

I completely agree since 3 games decides who's best at what
Why not give Khabibulin the Vezina already eh?

Ok..

EGG line has been the hottest line since the All Star Break and are continueing to be so into the playoffs. Gomez and Elias hold the top two stops for total points since then.

I have to say that the EGG line did score 4 goals yesterday, If you made that post after game 2, you wouldn't have much to argue about the line being the best in all of the playoffs. Against Primeau, when Hitchcock can make the matchup at home in philly, the EGG line is contained pretty well.

Hey, 6 points in 2 games doesn't completely suck But your right, they didn't explode until this game in the playoffs. Neither did any Devil

This line has blown the Devils out of the water so far. On the PP they look next to perfect.

Sorry, it was just that the whole thread seemed to centre around their "dominant playoff performance which I'm not buying into until the first round is done (at least).

I think Elias is on a similar level to Forsberg. His points will never show it, but that stems from the defensive attitude that the Devils require.

Elias is pretty freaking smooth.

Forsberg is the best player in the NHL right now, so yeah ultimately no argument, but don't slight Elias too much.

For instance - the value to their teams. Without Elias, the Devils have nothing. Similar but not as extreme for Forsberg and the Avs.

Ultimately, i just think that Elias is quite under-rated. (but i am not saying he should be viewed as Forsberg...just near there)
