I don't see many people biting on this Laval rumour. I did some research about Laval and found out the largest arena only holds 3,500. I now understand why a lot of people really don't believe this.

Laval is a suburb of Montreal, right north of the island. So it's not big but it doesn't have to be, as any AHL franchise placed there would fetch the fans from Montreal and the other suburbs.

The fans would no doubt be there, but is the biggest arena available only 3,500 seats? I'm not even sure if the AHL would allow an arena that small to be used.

If there was a 6,000 or so seat arena available in the area I would give a little more credibility to the rumour.

Both have been solid, neither has been outstanding imo and I've seen every game. Chipchura to me is always going to be the kind of player that can go unnoticed but just goes about his job. Price had that one stinker and another bad game but other then that has been solid. A couple goals he's given up there's nothing any goalie could have done, in the two blow outs, he looked bad though.

I'll believe it when I see it. Personally I find it hard to believe as I think they will be back in Hamilton but the fact that they haven't picked up the option has left me wondering of late.

Big game tonight, Quad city is about where the dogs are in terms of win %, hope they can pull out another win!

Reading this article, I'm sure Danis is not coming back next year...

Here is an article on Valentenko.

Quote:
The Dogs' injury situation has taken a turn for the worse. Defenceman Andrew Archer will miss two to three weeks with a knee injury. Daniel Corso (finger) and Ryan Russell (concussion) are both is day to day. Mathieu Biron (knee) is probably still three weeks away. Mikhail Grabovski (ankle) has started skating again but is probably a couple of weeks away from being able to suit up.

Thanks for posting that thief, my favourite bit is quoted below

Valentenko says he grew up in Moscow as a Montreal Canadiens fan and admitted he was excited and almost cried that summer day back in 2006 when his agent called to say the Habs had drafted him.
Not sure I'll be able to do any reports tonight, see what happens.

Man, how can Timmins draft great individual and great talent combined?

He's a God.

His goal, like every other member of the Bulldogs, is to get that call up to play for Montreal.
But that, of course, will bring other challenges, like learning to speak French.

1-0 Quad City. Carey could've stopped that.

Just saw the first period. He made a few nice first passes. His positional game has improved and he looks much more confident than early in the season.

2-0 Quad City.

Edit: 3-0 Quad City with 12 seconds to play in the second period.

4-0 Quad City (4 on 3 PP).

Well, I've wasted 6$ tonight.

Chipchura finished the night with 10/13 for faceoffs.

Their offensive game was completely impotent.

Sounds like you picked the wrong game tonight. The Belleville-Kitchener game was pretty entertaining.

Hamilton D's plus/minus

-Valentenko +3
-Carle +2
-Martin +1
-Coté 0

-Degon -5
-Archer -9
-Gleed -14

The rookies are looking good. Carle has nice offensive instincts, is very productive and is great in PP situations. Valentenko is a rock on the back end. He's big, is a good passer and his skating is above average.

Carey was off last night. It will be interesting to see who gets the start tonight. If it's Don Lever making decisions for the Hamilton Bulldogs it will be Danis. If it's Bob Gainey making decisions for the Montreal Canadiens it will be Price again.

I wonder if something is up, for the same simple reason.

But why would the Habs want to move, it's not for losing money, they don't own the club.

Is it because they want to own their own AHL club and having it located just outside Montreal would give them the best chance to make money?

Could it be because they want their players closer to Montreal?

One thing for sure, last nights attendance was really telling about the city of Hamilton and it's lack of attention towards the Bulldogs. Last night was the Smiles on Ice game that raises money for the local children's hospital, a game that is usually very, very well attended. Combined that with the fact that there wasn't a single NHL game on TV and the attendance couldn't crack 6,000. An attendance of 5,646 is the lowest Smiles on Ice game since I've been following this team.

What concerns me is Montreal rejecting the 5 year extension because they do plan to move but can't move that quickly so they only want a 1 or 2 year deal. A deal like this would show the team has plans of moving and the negative media around here would be all over it. If this team can't draw people as the Calder Cup Champions imagine what the arena would look like for a lame duck team on the way out of town.

Dogs got blanked again, 2-0.

Didn't see/listened the game but I guess it's the offense that was not there again since Price was named the Flamboro Downs Workhorse of the Game with 33 saves on 35 shots.

Saw the game and imo Price was the best player, very good game for him despite letting in 2 goals. Likely his best game since being sent down imo. Tough loss though, Dogs could have used the points.

Cyclones Report

The Cyclones won a pair of games this weekend after the All-Star break as they stayed in first place of the Northern Division.

Friday night at home saw a shoot-out win over the Wheeling Nailers in front of the second largest crowd of the year - 5707. Habs prospects Thomas Beauregard had two assists while Cory Urquhart notched his 7th goal of the season. Urquhart has been playing D on the point of the power play since we are lacking d-men.

Saturday night the Cyclones traveled to Wheeling (I made the 4 1/2 hour road trip myself with about 30 other Clones fans) to blank the Nailers 2-0. Cedrick Dejardins stopped all 39 shots he faced in getting his fourth and league-leading shut out of the year.

Locke just riffled a shot from the faceoff circle. Hopefully scouts watch these games.

I can't believe I watched the AHL All-Star game just to see Corey Locke play.
