Yeah '95 was pretty brutal. In fact I'll always remember that as the first Stanley Cup final where I literally did some channel surfing while the game was on. New jersey may have won, but Hockey was the loser there. '96 wasnt much better. If Pittsburgh makes it to the finals against Colorado that is a series that we are still talking about to this day. But as it was, the Panthers won with Dave Lowry as their best player (shudder) and again Hockey was the loser.

'98 was just awful all around. One game #7, and that ended in a 4-0 shutout. Boston basically lost a playoff series because of the toe in the crease rule. The only suspense was seeing Ottawa upset New Jersey. Other than that Washington ruled the east by playing a boring brand of Hockey and with Kolzig in net who looked like a clone of the michelin man. At least if Buffalo makes the finals there is some intrigue. It would have been like Hasek vs. Detroit. Instead in was an awestruck Caps team getting swept by Detroit.

Hopefully 2008 will be a much better playoff year in terms of entertainment.

Yeah, the only thing exciting about that series was the 1st and 7th games.

Whenever people talk about the NHL's woes nowadays, I always think back to the crease rule, and specifically that moment...
All hyperbole aside, probably one of the worst rules introduced in pro sports history, I can't even imagine how Sabres fans feel about it.

As far as boring playoffs go...2003 is the "winner" in my books.

2003 was so bad I didn't even bother watching the finals except for game 7. That is sad.

It's hard to call a 7 game SCF series a dud...but for me, that's pretty much what it was. I'm sure it was exciting for (Mighty) Ducks and Devils fans, but for a neutral observer like me...they just seemed tired, it was almost as though they were playing to jump on each other's mistakes, rather than create their own chances.

The Wild's exciting run that year converted me into a fan, so I guess not all was lost...

I didn't think 2003 was that bad. The finals was probably one the worst ever but it did have some good series. It was shocking to see the Ducks sweep the Wings. Toronto and Philly had a pretty intense series. Vancouver and Minnesota was good. Ottawa and New Jersey was pretty good considering how boring New Jersey was at he time. The finals being an absolute snooze fest probably makes everyone forget about that year.
