With no first or second round picks this year, I can't see the Flyers being able to trade up high enough to draft any of those guys.

Where we'll be picking take the best players available, but if all things are equal I would want

1. Physical defenseman (that isn't a slug)
2. Goal scoring winger

This is too easy. Alexandre Picard. That way the Flyers would have two of them.

No way can the Flyers trade up to get a decent pick this year.

I second the notion about getting big, tough Dmen who can also play.

I would rather they just sit tight this year and wait until next year to make a move. Hope your scouting comes through and gets some talent with the glut of late picks they have.
I voted Picard just for the increased confusion factor.

i would love to land a guy like Cam Barker myself. but there is no way we could ever trade up to get a guy like that what is our first pick in the 2004 draft? our 3rd? not happening. unless of course we were willing to include next years 1st which is not happening

I think it could be a possibility to see Clarkie to trade one or two vets from our current lineup to get a higher pick. With the next CBA, we cannot keep our current roster...

Anyone remember the year we drafted Pitkanen-no first round draft pick and no way we were moving up...Don't count Clarke out of the draft. Come draft day, Clarke will be going all out to make a trade, and if he feels that it is something that works for us, a trade will happen.

I can see him doing that only if it gets us a top 5 pick (or wherever the talent plateau is).

exactly

clarke is very precise in draft day movements, and never gets duped--whether trading up to the 4th overall...trading down when we drafted woywitka (and picked up like a 3rd)...or the typical trading a 7th rounder for a 6th rounder the next season, et al.

if there's a good deal out there on draft day, clarke will find it

We also had multiple seconds, and this year we have no second round pick.

yeah but we dont need a first round pick either---maybe move up into the 2nd round--some pretty good players get drafted from there, certainly the talent pool isn't as deep as '03, he'll make a good move if it's there.
