If true, this is an amazing deal. Especially considering Dumont is practically carrying this team right now......what's his streak at now? 17?

If this is true, I wonder what that means for Weber, Suter, and Erat...

One of my sources without coming straight out and saying this is true, didn't refute it at all and said to look for an announcement soon.

Good for the Preds. Dumont is a very good player. Wish he could have been a deadline deal to Montreal but the Preds got a ton of free cash.

2nd-ed. i like Suter, but he is redundant on our roster and will likely be asking for too much money.

Well, in cap room, but not in what the actual owners will spend.

I would be happy with this if true.

However, I don't consider it an amazing deal. It's hard to keep realistic during a long point streak where he's been our MVP. But, Dumont has never scored more than 23 goals in a year. He's very streaky. Even this year, his projected career year, he looked totally lost at the beginning of the year. If he's been streaky at in his prime, what will be like at 34?

Optimisitcally speaking, it's possible he's just hitting his prime, and is growing out of his streaky ways as he hits his 30's. Also, Dumont has always been a solid playoff performer.

I'll take it, but I'll remain cautious. He would've no doubt gotten than on the open market with the great shortage UFA forwards.

I'm having trouble figuring what Suter will get.

I'm not sure if another team will be willing to give out a 10 year, 60 million dollar package or whatever. People forget that money is only half of it. The other half is the team giving the offer sheet will be losing some serious draft picks. Burke is looking very shrewed with the Prenner situation... not because he wasn't willing to pay 4M, but because he could end up with Smatos because of it. If Burke ends up with a top 3 pick, I think it will ease some of the SCARE of more RFA offer sheets.

But ya, I think Suter makes the most sense to move. #1) He should bring back the most via trade. #2) Weber is better, and we our fair share of young dmen. #3) We need another good forward now and in the long-term.

Wow, $4 million is some serious dough for a guy whose career high is 66 points and, despite currently being on a major-league tear with a 16-game points streak, is still well under a point-per-game clip this year. If I'm the Preds, I'd much rather see his value exponentially increase during this streak and ship him at the deadline for valuable picks and prospects and therefore also increase my chances of signing Weber and Suter. Questionable move all around.

You can't just look at stats. We have a legit 1st line now with Arnott, Jp and Radu. Thier chemistry is amazing. He wouldve gotton more on the market as a ufa. Looks like a hometown discount to me. HE struggled at the beggining of the year but he has defiently found his role on this team and has fulfilled it very nicely.

Which one...

Dumont, 4 years, $4m/yr, 29yo
Hartnell, 6 years, $4m/yr, 25yo

Pretty close, IMO. At the top of their games, I take Dumont over Hartnell. Dumont is also a proven playoff performer, and I feel a better team presence than Hartnell. But, if given the option, I'd probably take Hartnell because of age and Dumont's history of streaky-ness.

I don't think there's a Preds fan that would think Dumont would be overpaid at 4 million per. Not when you consider that in addition to the chemistry with Arnott, the leadership role he plays, and the fact that he's on pace for a career year\seems to have turned the corner from a good offensive player to a great one. He's also a fan favorite.

I hope this is true, I've wanted to add a white jersey to my collection, and this would make the decision easy.

If this is true this is awesome! Isn't that less than even Legwand got? I can't see how that would be overpayment....

Hartnell has the age, but Dumont doesn't have Hartnell's tendency to take stupid penalties at the absolute worst time. I'd prefer the veteran playoff performer.
