Jody Comes back to Columbus and runs for Mayor.

His Slogan. " A warning to other cities. I can kick your mayor's ass"

Jody you will be missed.

Enjoy playing on my second favorite team eh? Jody!!

Actually glad to hear Thornton welcome you, cause it kept going thru my mind how they wanted to split your melon in the past.

When your playing days are done.. I would love to hear you talk hockey as a broadcaster for your CBJ..

Take care big guy and duck occasionally.

Jody gave his heart and soul to the Jackets and although it hurts, I'm glad he's getting a chance with the Sharks. Can't fault the guy for his work ethic, determination and commitment to the team and community. Here's hoping he can get his 20 games in with San Jose and maybe even get a taste of NHL playoff hockey firsthand.

A couple of years ago when Coleman was running unopposed I wrote in Jody for mayor and then about a year later I heard that he had around 15-20 write-in votes for mayor.

That must be most of us who have posted in this thread

Every broadcast I grow more tired of Gare.

Bring Jody back as a color commentator with Rimer.

I'll remember Jody Shelley as a guy who did the most with the few opportunities he got. He almost always made good decisions. I'll take a guy whose talent doesn't match his effort every time. He always stood up for his teammates, was always interested in the team doing well and always did what was asked of him - even going out on the power play when it was clear the motivation was to tick off the opposing team.

I loved it that he scored two goals in a game for us. That's my best memory of him.

How long will it take before we see a fan wearing #45 Sharks sweater at the Nat?

IMO, this would be the best way for us, as fans, to show Jody our appreciation...18,144 fans rising to their feet and applauding when he takes the ice for warm-ups.

While I am sure that he would certainly be colorful as a commentator, I see him returning to the organization in more of a Tyler Wright-type role, given his involvement with the Foundation and Hats for Heroes.

I've been a Shelley fan since his days in Syracuse. It's sad to see him go, but hopefully he will get more playing time and will finally get to the playoffs in San Jose.

I know personally I appreciated his time with the organization dating back to his AHL days. He always played his heart out. I had the chance to meet him a couple times and he really is a class act and very friendly.

He made it exciting for me to be a Jackets fan even when the team was terrible because he always left it all on the ice every shift and didn't take crap from anyone.

I hope he gets brought back to the Jackets organization when he's done playing. Preferably on tv broadcasts or front office.

Jody had heart and soul. I met him on several occasions over the years. He was nothing but attentive, respectful, and caring. He had an great smile and never seemed bothered or irritated at meeting his fans. I'm sure he added a lot in the locker room and supported our youngsters. I can only hope he returns to Columbus when he retires and becomes a part of the Jackets organization. Luv ya Jody, and i will always treasure your game-worn jersey and wear it proudly!

Never met him in person, but I always liked the way fans would start to murmur his name when he took the ice during a game.

Can anyone say they attended Jody's 2 goal effort against Calgary on Sunday, November 9th, 2003?

I was at that game.

I will always have fond memories of Jody. I was sad to see him depart and hope he comes back in some capacity. Nevertheless, it signals a positive step for the organization because it means they've improved.

He was a professional and a very honorable enforcer. Honorable in that I don't think I ever saw him take a cheap shot at anyone. He was always willing to do what was asked of him, even when that meant sitting in the press box. We won't greatly miss him on the ice but I think he'll be missed in the stands.
