Jared Boll

I was wondering how Jared Boll has looked in training camp? I attended the Traverse City Tournament and Jared Boll really made a impression. He can score, hit and can throw em pretty well too.

Your Thoughts

I have personally loved what I've seen from this kid thus far. I really think he's in the mix for a 4th line position if he keeps up this level of play and intensity.

If not, he most certainly will have a role in Syracuse and could see some callup time.

I love his sandpaper game.

One of the best players I've seen at camp and in the first pre-season game.

Yep, agreed. I loved him in the Nashville game. Fought a guy that had, height, reach, and weight on him and won, hands down. Everytime he was on the ice, you noticed him. Will be a great addition to the Jackets, if not now, soon.

to echo what has already been said, I really like Boll. He has looked good in camp and was one of the only players to make an impression vs. Nashville. I like him.

Jared Boll has looked great, I really hope he makes the team. I was at the game vs Nashville where he fought Alex Henry and was in the first row. I recorded the fight, so if anyone wants to see it, let me know and I will post the clip.

Great article in the 'patch about Boll

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content...s&cat=&sid=101

Quote:
"He's in the middle of the action in every game he plays," Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock said. "That's just the way he plays. He's right up in your face."

...

But don't look for Boll to be cut anytime soon. The decision will go "right down to the bitter end," Hitchcock said.

Boll prides himself as a Darcy Tucker-Sean Avery type, an agitator with a knack for scoring. Hitchcock prefers a comparison with Rick Tocchet, who played 18 NHL seasons, scored 440 goals and 952 points and logged 2,970 penalty minutes.

Last night, Boll looked like Clubber Lang.

At 13:48 of the first period, he sent Chicago's Yanic Perreault sprawling with a hard check near the goal. Two minutes later, he tried to flatten Chicago's star player, Martin Havlat but missed. Still, he got the Blackhawks' attention. Then, in four minutes of the second period, he lowered the boom on Chicago's Ryan Stokes and Jim Fahey.

At that point, Boll became the hunted.

With 2:24 left in the game, Stokes finally caught up to him, crunching Boll with an open-ice hit. But even then it was Stokes who raced off the ice, leaving a trail of blood from the far wall to the Chicago bench. Stokes had a nasty cut from his cheek to his chin, either from a blade or a stick.

Boll hopped right up.

"If I got hit like that, I'd be out for two weeks," Chimera said. "How can you not like the kid? He hits, he fights, he scores."

I like Boll too, but ....

I can't shake the thoughts of Steve Goertzen from a few years ago who put in a great, hard working camp where he banged and sandpapered and gutted his way onto the roster and then, after a few games, was gone. I know he's still around, but he's done nothing.

Picard, though he doesn't fight, put in a similar hard-working, pestering performance last year and he has yet to make much of a pro impression as well.

I will say this, so far so good for Mr. Boll.

Upper Bowl. Lower Bowl. Jared Boll. It's all too confusing.

Not as confusing as North Korea, South Korea, Paul Kariya. Its the latter that's part of the axis of evil, right?

I've tried to get that movie out of my mind.... My friends were telling me how good it was, so I watched it. The wrestling in the hotel is an image burned into my mind. Pretty sure I'll need therapy.

The bear in the ice-cream truck was great, but other then that.. I only found a few laughs.... That's a buck thirty, or so, of my life I'll never get back.

Oh, and Boll rules...

Jared Boll is one of my top favorite players. He brings it most nights, irritates everyone including coaches and has a shot as well.

Bob McKenzie nominated Jared Boll of the Columbus Blue Jackets as one of the top 6 pests in the league, and a player every team would love to have. He states:

Quote:
He's No. 1 with a bullet," said McKenzie. "Ken Hitchcock says everyone in the league wants to kill him. Opposing coaches are yelling at him, opposing players are after him and he has 18 fights, which leads the National Hockey League. He's only 21 years old and he's hitting everything in sight and driving people crazy."

Good thoughts. I agree that he's our Sean Avery. Which means he should never be on the top line like he was last night. I'm glad that experiment didn't last too long.

I don't have any problems with an enforcer/grit/sandpaper guy as long as he has some ability to contribute offensively every now and then to keep everyone honest. Boll fits that role. He's earning everything that he's getting.

NHL.com had a poll of the best agitators... Boll was one of maybe 5 choices. Makes me really proud of this kid, he's made his mark and is here to stay.

Watch Boll tonight, he will be on fire. If the rest of our guys would play with 75% of his intensity I bet we would win enough games to make the playoffs. He excudes confidence.....
