GDT Feb 1, 2008 - Ducks at Blues

Doug Weight returns to St Louis.

Interesting lineup- Matt Walker is playing right wing, and I don't know why.

Backs -Jacks pairing has already had 2 bad outings. As far as Walker, it's obvious Brewer gave his incriminating pics of AM to Matt, leaving Andy no choice but to play him wherever he wants.

That's not diving, it's dodging!

Lines:

Kariya - Tkachuk - Boyes
Stempniak - McDonald - Backes
Mayers - Johnson - Hinote
King - McClement - Walker

Salvador - Brewer
Backman - Jackman
McKee - EJ

Thoughts thru the 1st:

Walker is in the lineup, because AM wanted to add some size to play the Ducks. I'm okay with it as long as Perron isn't out for more than 1 game. I would've kicked Backman out, but w/e.

McDonald didn't dive, but raising your arms and flailing isn't exactly smart with the refs looking for anything to call.

Legace is VERY sharp tonight

Decent 1st period, and Boyes is really not making Pronger happy

This seems like one of those games where we spin our wheels all night until the other team scores. Hopefully, I'm wrong... c'mon boys!

Brewer and Sali holding up well against the Getzlaf-Perry-Bertuzzi line....which has been crazy good thus far. EJ is playing with a lot of confidence tonight, same cannot be said for Backman.

Legace should be getting free meals for life in St. Louis.

Has Walker had even 1 shift this period?

Walker with Kariya and Walt?!?!?! I wish I had what AM is smoking.
EDIT: Thank god he's back on the 4th line, and they had a scoring chance!

Boyes came off on the line change and Kariya and Walt were still in the offensive zone. He isn't playing with them. The line changes are gradual, that's why it constantly seems like a grinder is on a scoring line.

Yea, Boyes went off because AM wanted Walker on that line, therefore they played together. It was a one-time thing to try and get a favorable matchup. Plus, I was KIDDING!
Stop trying to teach me the game son.

These refs are terrible. They made that weak call at the end of the 3rd on the Blues, and then missed two penalties on the Ducks.

Double shut out, and the game goes to an SO.

Round 1
Ryan Getzlaf shoots, misses the net!
Andy McDonald shoots, scores!
After 1 Round: Blues 1-0

Round 2
Todd Bertuzzi shoots, Legace saves!
Brad Boyes shoots, scores!

Blues win shootout 2-0, win game 1-0.

This will probably be the last game I post in the Blues GDT, cause the Center Ice free preview expires soon. I had fun.

Submitted without comment or analysis...

Erik Johnson did play at least one shift during OT. I saw it with my own two eyes.

I don't know why, either, but his line had a couple of pretty good shifts.

Amazing performance by Manny, great to see he is back to his best.

And a shootout win The standing are certainly looking a little more healthy than at the all star break.

I'm still not going to get my hopes up too high, but the Blues' playoff chances could be greatly increased with a regulation win tonight vs. Colorado. If we win ALL our games in hand(big if) there is only one team between us and the 7th/8th seed neighborhood....and that is Phoenix.

Still a long road, but this year's stretch run ought to be a lot more exciting than the last few!

Was this game as exciting as I think it was? Wasn't able to watch but listened to the last part of the 3rd and OT/SO

I thought the game was fairly boring, and I like defensive matchups. No risk whatsoever. Good finish, however (for once!).
