3 Way Proposal Ottawa-Tampa-Chicago

Ottawa gives: Martin Gerber
Ottawa recieves: Patrick Lalime

Chicago gives: Patrick Lalime
Chicago recieves: Johan Holmqvist

Tampa Bay gives: Johan Holmqvist
Tampa Bay recieves: Martin Gerber

assume this happens at the draft day or summer

Ottawa saves cap space, a familiar face comes back.

Chicago gets a decent back-up to Khab/

Tampa Bay gets a #1 next year

LOL!

Everyone loses!

Except Tampa, they make out with a decent goaltender..but they need to steer clear of these streaky goaltenders.

Lalime was good for us a LONG time ago...he's not coming back even though I still like him as a goalie.

Only Tampa is potentially happy, because Gerber's a upgrade over what they currently have.

Lalime is UFA this summer. Sign him for free.

I'd also rather see DT promote Crawford to back up the Bulin Sieve (or whoever else maybe #1), than aquire another goalie to do it.

Its not bad... its definitley an upgrade over holmqvist... but id rather us go out and get Huet for less then what Gerber is making and i think Huet is a better goaltender.

Not to mention Holmqvist is a UFA so why wouldnt chicago just sign him in the offseason if they wanted him.

I fail to see how Lalime is any different than Gerber, aside from the fact that Lalime only chokes during the playoffs, unlike Gerber who chokes during the season. I slight upside if this was done during the off-season, but not before the playoffs.

Tampa wins that one- not sure what Lalime brings to Ott other than a bit of cap relief

FYI: This was taken off the Blackhawks boards.

Ottawa needs to get rid of Emery and Redden is too valuable to let walk out at the end of the season and get nothing in return.

Chicago needs a young, solid dman capable of PP duties and a solid 2-way game, and they need to get rid of Bulin.

Tampa needs to avoid trading away their core but still land a real goaltender.

To Ottawa:

Dan Boyle ($3.625mil)
Johan Holmqvuist (1.000mil)
Cam Barker (688,900)
Cash Difference: (-3.936mil)
Summary: Saving money, getting a cheap backup to Gerber, 2 good young dmen that replace Redden at a fraction of the cost

To Tampa:

Nik Khabibulin (6.750mil)
2nd round draft pick from Hawks
Cash Difference: (+2.125mil)
Summary: Getting a true no. 1 goaltender that helped them win the cup and they sorely miss. Give up a promising young dman that has had a few injury problems but gaining a high pick in a deep draft coming up.

To Chicago:

Ray Emery (2.750mil)
Wade Redden (6.500mil)
Cash Difference: (+1.811mil)
Summary: Getting a cheaper, younger goaltender hungry for playing time, finally obtaining a no. 1 dman, and only spending less than an extra $2mil to get them.

I think this makes sense for everyone involved. Every team gets a nice return and only gives up what they want they've been rumored to looking at giving up. Anyone second this notion??? Does anyone think that a 3-way deal is, in fact, what is in store for the upcoming trade???"

Seems somewhat fair. (Ottawa seems like the winners here though).
I'd love to see Vermette and/or Corvo coming to Chicago what else would it take?
The big quesiton mark is getting Redden resigned.

You're making Ottawa worse and less experienced right before the playoffs start in which they're supposed to be a contender and the only payoff is Cam Barker?

No thanks.

Trade proposals are fun, but NTC MUST be taken into considerations.

you obviously missed the memo where Redden doesnt want to leave Ottawa. I think he even mentioned publically to taking a paycut if necessary.
