Dwayne Roloson

Has anyone been listening to the color commentary of Dwayne Roloson during the Calgary/Vancouver series? Very frightening.

I heard him doing the San Jose/St. Louis game 5. He's learning when to pick his spots to talk and for how long, but I think he's getting better. The PBP guy had to correct him on his pronunciation of "Nabokov" though.

he needs to relax. i have no doubt he can talk just fine about the game if he's not put on the spot like that, but that's what broadcasting is. he'll get better, but right now it's painful to listen to.

We've had a couple of the games Rolie the Goalie has been on here in the UK.

He just needs to relax a bit! He sounds really robotic.

But it is nice having a current NHL'er on there, and another goalie is always ok by me.

ESPN guy making small-talk by announcing that it's someone on St Louis's birthday. Asks Dwayne if he'd like to sing.

Roloson: "No one wants to hear my monotone voice singing Happy Birthday."

:lol <---Well, it's not /that/ funny, but it was indeed amusing.

Other than that, he just needs experience. He's not hurting ratings.

gotta admit I don't listen much to Russ. As I tape the games from 5 (when I remember), I tend to just zap through the talking bits. No one on 5 will ever come close to the Mooseman though Big shoes to fill.

Too be honest with you I yet to hear the right prononciation of last name "Nabokov" .

It should be Na - 'bo - kov

not 'Na-bo -kov or even worse Na - 'bu - kov!

The same way it's should be Sum - 'so - nov and Fro - 'lov.

Stress on the second sylable.
