Forsberg/Esche/York/Calder/Meyer/Zhitnik Appreciation thread

I'd like to take the time to thank these guys now for last year's horrible season, because it helped us so much to be where we are today.

Holmgren might not have gone crazy this past offseason with the acquisitions if everybody wasn't complete crap last year.

A hobbled-Forsberg pretty much netted us Timonen, Hartnell, and Upshall. Freddy Meyer ended up getting us Coburn through Zhitnik. Peppermint Fatty gave us some comedic relief. Pitkanen got us Lupul and Smith.

I mean, I love this team so much more than many of our recent ones, even excluding last year.

Thanks for being so bad last year, former Flyers! They helped the rebuild process by a year or so.

We might of even still had Esche

I don't think Forsberg and Zhitnik needed to be labeled as 'crap'

Zhitnik maybe not. Forsberg was still awesome even being injury-riddled all last season, but we can just thank him for the massive haul from Nashville then.

If we weren't that bad last year, Forsberg wouldn't have been traded and we'd just lose in the first round or something with our lineup last year if everyone performed to what we expected.

And then we'd ony be marginally better this season.

So, basically, thank Forsberg for not being so good as to make the team better than what it was. Thank him for being injured last year.

I see where you're going with this........but you really want to put York, Esche, and appreciation in the same sentence? REALLY?

Life isn't fair. It wasn't fair for us to lose our star captain to injuries and stupidity so early in his career, but it happened.

I don't get the hate for Esche from some of you posters...how soon we forget. He did take us to game 7 in a 2-1 loss of getting to the cup finals and played great that season. I guess some people value a Calder Cup more but I don't.

Forsberg and Zhitnik also don't belong but might as well hate on everybody.

I thought I was the only one who brought this up in defense of Esche. The bottom line is, he outplayed Brodeur for 3 games. He is no longer in the NHL, and Brodeur is still Brodeur. What have you done for me lately?

Peppermint Fatty still makes me laugh.

...as did Jimmy's comment about York having the puck...

That made last season more tolerable. Sporadic humor at how crappy things were.
