Who's going tonight?

I got lucky and my ticket plan included this one.

With only 1, 4,7 and 16 retired.. You Think Hextall is worthy to see his #27 in the Rafters?

No chance, and rightly so.

I'm guessing if hexy drops the puck for the ceremonial face off that the cannon line will be out. I'd love to see a pic of downie shaking hands with hextall and hexy giving the "now its your turn kid" look to him.

I will probably shed a tear or two. I miss him.

Too many favorite moments. The usual ones, of course, like when he scored goals.

I love the passion he brought to the team after Pelle's death. Same reason why I will always praise the mid 1980s Keenan. They brought back Flyers' style passion.

A particular favorite moment was in his first regular season game against Edmonton. He stoned Gretzky on a breakaway. The on-ice conversation went something like this:

Gretzky, marveling at the save: Who the hell are you?

Hextall: Ron Hextall. Who the hell are you?

That is freakin' awesome!!!! So Hexy.

I wasn't on the Flyers fandom during his first tenure with the Flyers, so my on-ice memories are mostly from '95 and '97. I loved everything he brought to the team.

A couple of off-ice stories. I think one of the coolest things I've ever seen was during a nationally televised Flyers game years ago. It was a taped interview from the old practice rink and a lot of the conversation surrounded his puck-handling ability, so at the end of the interview they start calling spots along the boards for Hexy to hit, and I mean the tinest spots like, "red dot above the (whatever)" And wouldn't you know that Hexy hit the freakin' spot each and every time.

Next, years ago Chico Resche came to speak at the school I work at. He was totally cool and when he finally sat down of all places to sit, he sat right next to me. I started telling him how my husband wanted his autograph because he remembered him from his time with the Flyers and we got to talking about the Flyers in general. During the conversation Chico says to me, "Ron Hextall was the best goalie I've ever backed-up."

Lastly, Hexy is solely responsible for me getting aired on "Mike and the Mad Dog" or "Mike and Mike" or whatever it is called up here. Anyway, it was the '95 playoffs and the Rangers had beaten Hexy's Islanders rather easily the year before, so all Mike and Mike kept saying was, "...it's just a matter of time with Hextall...." So you know when we swept their sorry arses I just had to call in and completely bust their chops. I said stuff like, "Yeah, it's just a matter of time for Hextall to prepare for the next round, meanwhile Richter was cleaning out his locker today....." It was one of my personal best moments as a Flyers fan.

No, he dropped the puck between the two goalies.

The question is who is next ???

Does Hextall close the book on the teams from the 1980's ??? ... or does Rick Tocchet go up next ???

If not Tocchet, Desjardins will likely be next, going in one season before LeClair.

Not sure they'll do Tocchet after his whole gambling scandal.
