Interesting Kovalev Quote

Was just on the CBC site and reading the preview for tonight's game and in the middle was what I thought a great quote by Kovalev.

Quote:
Despite Kovalev's strong season, he knows the team has a long way to go before the post-season.

"It's still 35 points to make the playoffs," he said. "That's the way I look at it, so we have to keep working."

I just find it awesome he wants to the team to strive for over 100 points and that it is necessary to do so.

Love his attitude and play this year. What a bounce back

Gotta love Kovalev and his attitude

67 + 35 = 102 points, can anyone imagine that at the beginning of this season!?

If Koivu said this, we'd have media people and fans saying "Koivu doesn't believe this team can make the playoffs as is"

That's not true, and you know it.
Remember what Koivu said at the beginning of the year... Seriously, it was a loser comment.

He said that the team was not the best on paper and that they should take it one step at a time instead of dreaming of making the cup finals right away.

The newspapers twisted what he said to make a story.

Yeah, I'd like to know that too:S

28 games left, so we need like 1.2. points per game for our team to reach that.

16 wins, so 11 losses and 1 ot/so loss. Hmm seems doable.

Maybe Kovy is just not that good in math and did not think it added to over 100 pts?

Kovy should be given alot of credit for the turnaround...he has put in the effort, and the results have been there. I also think that winning has alot to do with Kovy's new found leadership, everything seems easier when the team is winning...Kudos to Kovy!!!

I really like and enjoy watching the way Kovy is playing this year. But I didn't find his quote to be anything special.

As for the comments on Koivu in this thread.

Kovalev IS now the guy that Montreal Canadiens' Fans wanted when he signed here. I'm Nice to see this whole situation finished positively for him and for the team.

He shows the example on the ice, he seems to have fun out there, he has fun with journalist, he's doing bright and encouraging comments.

I can't wait for the final game of the season (@ Home vs. Toronto)... There's gonna be electricity in the air!!!!!!

Kovalev is the bounce-back player of the year IMO!!!
He is playing with passion this year and he is also playing with heart which is great to see from a guy like him. He's helping lead the younger players like Plekanec and Kostitsyn and he is leading this team when the team captain doesn't seem to be.
I'm very disappointed with Koivu, but with Kovy leading the way....we are in very capable hands.
