Should Coliacovo be suspended?

Last night Carlo Coliacovo hit Koivu from behind, and due to the way Koivu fell, plus his own momentum he slammed his own face straight into the glass

I'm aware he almost injured himself by being a reckless idiot, but should the intent warrant a suspension? It was a very dangerous play IMO.

It was a dangerous play. He should be more careful. Running into the glass head-first is stupid for a guy who's had concussion problems.

Well it's pretty apparent the reason why he keeps getting injured is his recklessness.

He was the one that was injured, rather than Koivu. Life works out in the end, no suspension needed, IMO.

He should but he won't because Koivu wasn't hurt. Worse, he got hurt!

I think, not 100% sure, that that was the first time I've exclaimed, "what the **** was that you ****ing ********er?" at the very top of my lungs this season. "Whoa, settle down ****head." was the response from my roommate. **** her and her Sens.

I like Carlo as I met him in '03 at the WJC and he had and still has a lot of potential but if he keeps getting hurt and pulls stupid shenanigans like that, why bother?

Carlo

If you really want to punish the guy, make Fletcher add a NTC to his contract (assuming he doesn't already have one).

Although he did hit Koivu from behind and deserved 2 minutes, I don't think he deserves a suspension because he didn't take a run at him. Imagine if he did though, he would have broken his neck and rearanged his own face pretty good.

no even remotely worthy of even consideration for a suspension. both players where pretty much stationary. reminds me of the hit on Higgins a few games back. a 2 minute penalty and nothing more. if Carlo was skating full speed and hit from behind like that maybe then there would be a case but probably not since Hollweg did just that and didnt recieve any additional discipline.

I remember watching that play and it looked like Koivu had heard a small voice in his head just saying "Duck!" and, as he did so, Coliacovo executed a perfect faceplant into the boards. (technical difficulty: 10.0).

Priceless...
