Wiikman is technically not the NY Rangers property. He is on an AHL contract with Hartford and theoretically can sign with any team in the NHL. I'm sure there is a modicum of loyalty and that won't happen, but until he is signed by the Rangers I can't see why he would appear on our top prospects poll. That would be like putting Fabian Brunnstrom on this poll.
Our resident writer Leslie recently wrote an analysis of our pro prospects in Hartford and Charlotte. While Hugh may not be our best prospect down there he has made progress this year. He seems more committed and is contributing some offense--maybe not enough--has had 10 fights--has size--needs to learn to use it better. I know some here like Zaborsky--that is their perogative. I'm not sure he's much more than Jakob Petruzalek redux. Potter and Kveton are next for me.
Despite the progress he's made this season, I still think Potter has a better shot at making it as a full-time NHLer than Jessiman.
Disagree. They are about equal. Both are safe bottom level guys with the potential to climb.
But I do think both will be NHLers. Whether with the Rangers or not is up to them and their play.
