We used to hit like that

Watching the game tonight reminds me of how we used to play at the begining of the season. Of course I'm talking about how STL is playing. They came out hitting anything that moved.

St Louis is full of guys that, while aren't that talented, will skate through the endboards for success...

I thought thats what we were too.

Let's be honest, the hitting that is being talked about here left this team after October and hasn't been seen very much since then.

It's not the lack of hitting that bothers me so much... it's the lack of anybody in front of the damn net.

I recall some broadcaster saying that hit totals can be deceptive because a high hit count often means your team is spending too much time in its own zone, where much of the hitting occurs. That felt true to me when I heard it, and it looked true tonight: St. Louis only had 3 more hits than us. (I realize it's a pretty subjective stat.) But has our forechecking been as effective as it was earlier in the season? Hell no.

I think we missed Novotny tonight, actually. He is so strong along the boards, especially with one hand on his stick moving into the offensive zone. (Do I think we would have won with him in the lineup? Nope. Just giving him some random props.)

Amen JF!!! The only person that parks in front of the net is Modin, which makes me think that's why Hitch loves him. Every time we go into the corner and spit out a quick pass to the front of the net, all I hear are crickets.

How about Brule laying the wood last night? That call-down to Syracuse really helped him. The fact he hasn't scored is a crime.

When was Vyborny ever associated with the term "power" or "speed" for that matter? Vyborny's decline isn't why we play like we did Sunday night. The whole team was lethargic. I hate winning big, like we did Friday, because its a sure bet that we'll come out flat the next night. Inversely, we follow those kind of losses with hard play, and I bet good will happen on the ice in Toronto Tuesday.

FACT: Last time went to St Louis(1/8), we lost 6-1, and then went on to win 4 in a row.

I do not think it. Novotný played against Chicago and we did not win. Evently he did not any hit.

There is shame that Bru and Brass /who are small players/ had 2 hits every and players like Malhotra /none/, Foote, Foote etc. less.
