To me, the discount entitlement should be for as many season tickets as you own. If you are a partial, you get that many discounted. After the discounts are determined all PSL holders can purchase as many additional tickets as they want at normal prices before they go on sale to the general public. So if a half season ticket holder wants to go to all the games, they get half discounted and half at full value.
We have to realize that season ticket holders are lucky to be receiving a good price and any discount at all on playoff tickets plus a favorable payment plan (nothing up front or apllied against next seasons tickets). Compare the prices and plans to other teams and you will see.
I want to renew next year but I want to renew on similar terms to last year. Wonder if they are going to be receptive.
I do not disagree with you. I am not asking for a better price. I just want to have the right to buy tickets for every game.
When I got my PSL I asked the rep about playoff tickets and I was told that even with the 20-2-1 plan I would be given the right to buy tickets before the general public.

Good discussion. I was a little surprised at the wording too. They need to write their copy more carefully, --especially THIS season.
Question: did they lower the price? Looks like it to me.
I compared the quote they gave me for next year to what I paid this year, and it looks like my seats are about $165 less per seat next year. Not including PSL fee.
Offer: I am moving out of town this summer and won't be renewing my season tickets (but I'm going somewhere really nice and will definitely have Center Ice). So if anyone wants to buy my PSL, ping me. Would save you hundreds of dollars.
I'm going to call my rep and get a $ figure of how much I have paid in, and how much until it's paid off. Willing to sell it for half of what I have in it. You can transfer/upgrade it to any location in the arena. I'm going to ask but they MIGHT even allow you to combine a partially paid PSL that you already have with mine to be paid off. You might ask your rep about that too.

I have to question this as well. At first, I thought they raised prices. I am in 206, and thought that the tickets were $21 per this season. The invoice for 08/09 says $23 per, so I assumed that they raised prices. Then I looked at my tickets, and they say $24. Does the price on the season tickets reflect the price you pay as a PSL holder, or are they general public price? I haven't dug out any paperwork for this season, and frankly am too lazy to right now.
The follow up would be, if they are lowering ticket prices, is it a sign that they are desperate to get the attendance numbers up? Or is it a sign that they are going to spend less with the Feds/Foote contracts coming off? I sincerely hope it is the former.

Nothing in the supplied paperwork said you wouldn't be able to buy more than your alloted tickets. It said if you were a 20-2-1 or a 10-4-1 then you would get "your" seats for the number of games specified. Why would you think you would get "your" seats for all the games? What about the others who share your seats? I would guess this works just like the regular season where PSL holders are allowed to buy tickets from the general public. Have you ever talked to your rep? Mine is fantastic and I have no doubt that if I wanted additional tickets (currently have probably the best 10-4-1 seats in the arena but that's another story ) that my rep would get me great seats just like she has always done in the past. They will not be mine normal season seats unless one of the other 3 chose not to do playoffs but I'm guessing they will be just as good if not better.

I never said that I wanted "my" sets for each game. I just want to know if I will be able to buy tickets for each game. I dont care where I sit as long as I am there.
And yes I will be calling my Rep sometime to find out if we are able to buy tickets before the general public. It would have been nice if they would have included the info in the packet.
DUDE ! You saw me in them, remember?
118, Row S, seats 1,2,3
Love them.
The price level jumps to the next level 4 feet across the aisle from me
in 117.

In answer to Epicdegree.. "Welcome" and no, the value printed on the ticket isn't what you paid.

It's new for them too.
There is a line of tickets to give out before they even talk to season ticket holders, beyond the seats you get during the regullar season.
VIP's (league and otherwise), players and coaching staff from both teams, etc. Then season ticket holders will likely get a limited crack of what's left before they go on sale to the general public. There are probably X number that will go to the general public, regardless. That seems pretty customary.

Ahhh - thats right.
You're probably gunna have a tough time getting rid of 3 -- normally people look for 2 or 4.

So here I was all ready and excited to find out who it was that was sitting in my section, turns out the poster is my seat buddy
To Epic, shoot me e-mails on the score updates so I know what's happening tonight. My flight was cancelled, rescheduled then delayed so not sure when I'll get to tune in, and if so probably after the game.
I tell you all it sure was nice feeling just to finally reach the point that they are mailing us materials that even mention playoffs in them. Even if we don't get there this year, it was refreshing to get this far. Not that I'm counting us out just yet. 'Specially after Friday's game.

Single ticket holders get a discount from face value on season tickets.
I believe, yours were $24 face this year but season ticket price is $21 each.
This year, you are paying $23, which likely means the face value of the ticket you are buying is $26.
The season ticket mailing people have to work on their timing, I think.
To say the least. Count me as one of those "disgruntled" PSL holders Rob Oller talks about in his Dispatch column today. Not only is this a schitty way to treat people who have stuck with an equally schitty team for the better part of a decade, but to slip it in the renewal packet is pretty spineless.
FTR: Even if I had NOT decided to move out of state this summer, and even though I could easily continue to afford to do so, I would not have re-upped my PSL for the coming season.
Why?
Put simply: For someone like me who can't (or doesn't want to) go to every single game, and feels like going to 20 to 25 games a year is PLENTY, and even if I wanted or could go to most games, it's way too easy to buy tickets the day of the game on the street or from other ticket holders at a MUCH reduced rate. Even if the Jackets become a juggernaut, tickets will still be easy to find. This ain't Toronto. And one always has the option in future years to jump back into season tickets.
I know, I know, getting the PSL "makes you feel like part of the team." And there's a little bit of truth to that. But honestly, it's probably more "bragging rights" to some fans, not to me. I know plenty of great fans who are more rabid than most and go to nearly every game, --and don't have or need PSLs. The 'discounts' and special PSL holder things are not enough either. The incentive I want is a consistent playoff contender, not 10% off my popcorn purchases.
And as if I needed any more help (were I staying in town) the 'blackmail' on the playoff ticket thing which I received in the mail, the murkyness of which was confirmed in the paper today, was proof enough. This post should not be construed as that of an angry fan. Love my Jackets and with them til the end as a fan, just not as someone who enjoys wasting money when I don't have to. Like most anyone, I have to ask, "why pay more when you don't have to?"
Season Ticket renewal package arrived today, disguised as Playoff Ticket information. Must renew season tix for 08-09 by March 7, to be eligible for playoff tickets.
This Issue was addressed in todays dispatch ...
Quote:
Enclosed in the renewal packet was an item that could be perceived as standard operating procedure -- or something more sinister. Season ticket-holders must re-up for next season by March 7 if they want to secure their current seats in the playoffs, should the Jackets make it. Past deadlines for season ticket renewals, except for prior to the inaugural season, were in late April.
Quote:
Before tar and feathering the Blue Jackets front office, it should be noted that other teams employ similar practices. It also must be stressed that the Blue Jackets are willing to work with disgruntled season ticket-holders on a case-by-case basis to make things right
