maybe I'm missing something, but isn't kessel + a 1st quite an overpayment for suter??? I like suter as much as the next guy, but he's not phaneuf or something.

that being said I'd not be displeased if we got semin and traded suter.

To be reevaluated today. Left last night on crutches. Said himself to the media that he thinks there is ligament damage, but obviously we will not know until he undergoes an MRI and the results are released to the public.

What does Kessel bring to the game other than scoring goals ? ... 1) he's not a big body ... 2) he's not defensively responsible ...

2 years and he's yet to break 20 goals scored ? ... I thought he was supposed to be a 30-40 goal scorer ?

You are seriously underestimating Suter. Granted Kessel has top line potential, but he has yet to show it in the NHL. Suter has just as much potential as Kessel, plus he's been more productive and more reliable. Is Suter worth Kessel plus a first? Probably not. But I could easily see something along the lines of Kessel+1st for Suter+3rd.

I think Kessel for Suter straight up is an ok deal.

Based purely on potential? Yes. But Suter is much further along on the learning curve.

Trotz would absolutely destroy Kessel in the media ... if you think Legwand was getting raked under the coals when he was RFA and what have you ... Kessel would just get murdered ... 1) he doesn't backcheck ... 2) he doesn't go to the corners and win pucks (consistently) ... 3) he doesn't score enough to make up for his deficiencies elsewhere

According to this we are seeking a gritty forward and a physical defenseman???

I have a hard time believing that.

Ya, but Suter is also 3 years older the Kessel.

I like Kessell. He's fiesty and goes to the net, and has good hands. Still has stuff to learn, but he just turned 20 a couple months ago.

Really? ... http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=481763 ... that's the very reason they think he WILL be traded

Really? We'll I base my opinion on seeing the kid play. Anyway, those guys can't agree anyway. i.e. "He looks more the part right now. I see him digging in corners, back checking, scoring some clutch goals"

I'm not making him out to be some physical machine, but a lot of his goals are scored while being the front of the net. NHL.com>video.

I'm not an expert on the kid. He's 20. Bruins fans are mad he's no Crosby; and he's not that. Not much different from what we saw about Mike Richards last year.

IF Suter is being shopped, any interest in Cammalleri? Still has one more year on his contract. The kings could use another solid Dman and Cammy is becoming expendable with the play of our youth. (Purcell, Boyle)

What about Erat, isn't he an impending RFA? Have the Preds made efforts to sign him so far?

again, Poile said all RFA would be signed this year. We're looking to add scoring, not subtract.

That's all well and good but does Poile know that his idea of a fair contract is in the same realm as Erat's agent? Of course most teams intend on signing their RFA's but the problem is when there is an abyss between the two sides.

Edit: Also, what's with the "again"?

One guy I like who should be fairly cheap: Fedetenko. Has always been a good playoff performer.
