Seems cheap. I don't know much about Schultz though.

Sounds like a big-time home-town discount to me. Schultz is very Komisarek-esque, but with a slightly lower ceiling it seems. He leads the Wild in blocked shots, is second in hits, and averages more than 19 minutes a night.

Schultz's deal doesn't help the Habs keep Komisarek in the fold for less than $5 million a year...

Schultz is not nearly as effective as Komisarek is. He is a good no.4 defenseman, which is where he ranks he ice time on the Wild. Komisarek is a no.2.
He just got a Seabrook-like deal and neither are on par with our top-pairing defenseman.

I dont think Komi will make Markov type money or Hamrlik for that matter.
People still overrate him a great deal. Not that he isnt amazing, he definitely is. But there was a poll made not too long ago about who's our best D and many voted for Komi which i find is ridiculous.

I think 4M would be enough, 4.5M would be the limit, anything more than that would be too much IMO. But no matter what, we will sign him.

Nick Schultz is Minnesota's #1 D-Man. This was a steal to get him at this price.

Then why is he the no.4 defenseman in terms of ice time ? I understand that the others get mor epower play time, but with pk and ES time you'd expect a true no.1 defenseman to match. Anyway, I guess you know more about the Wild than I do but from I could gather in terms of both observations and information, if Schultz is your best defenseman, you guys are not ready to compete for the Cup. Still, I do not necessarily mean to bring down Schultz. To me, he is a very efficient second-pairing guy and is certainly not overpaid (when you factor in his age and upside) with this new deal.
