Brett Hull summed up the media's feelings about the Columbus Blue Jackets last year on NBC. Unfortunately, fellow Jacket fans, we collectively are playing the world's smallest violin to an empty house.

When you bash Detroit, and then say Steve onder, I just assumed it was more Redwing bashing...That's all...Steve Yzerman's actually my all time favorite hockey player....

Hitchcock being considered for "coach of the year"?

You forget he is a Blue Jacket and that disqualifies him.

We can only hope this provides the CBJ motivation to rally behind Hitchcock like they did when LeClaire was snubbed from the Allstar game and that Nash was not awarded the AS MVP trophy and they came out scorching at a 0-3-1 clip.

i saw this thread from the main board and had to stop in, i agree that bill clement is an idiot. he doesnt know about the nhl. bill clements hockey iq goes like this detroit, new jersey (only cause they played philadelphia so much in the playoffs), ny rangers, philadelphia. even when bill clement worked for espn or nbc or vs. i dont know if you all noticed but anytime they were talking about the teams around the league he would answer last and his responses were always like i agree with you guys. he would never expand on a thought or an issue.

Clement is an idiot, but not for the reasons you list.

I'd argue that Bruce Boudreau, Brad McCrimmon, Ted Nolan and Wayne Gretzky are all on par with the Hitch

I think if the Capitals or Coyotes make the playoffs, they are most deserving. If the Thrashers make the playoffs AND make it past the first round McCrimmon should most certainly be up for consideration. Nolan just deserves it because yet again he's taken an underrated team full of castoffs and made them a viable squad.

The Thrashers and Capitals have both been dealing with the reality of a mid-season coaching change... yet still find themselves in the playoff hunt. I feel that this achievement alone is greater than half of that list.

I know the Church of H'c0ck is a full house here, but Hitch's achievements are certainly overshadowed by other coaches, if they succeed.

Nolan is just amazing, I think the Isles have won 6 or 7 in a row now, and their roster is worse than ours. That guy could probably take the Leafs to the playoffs.

Brad McCrimmon is the assistant coach in Atlanta; GM Don Waddell is still behind the bench.

Boudreau gets my vote for the Jack Adams.

Agree, aside from Ovy, you don't have much there...they are in the weakest division and that hurts them.

I refuse to accept that Waddell is truly calling the shots for Atlanta. He's a bigger idiot than Douglas
