Will OKT sit from now on?

2 in a row on the bench for OKT. Before he was benched, he was really struggling with his clearances and his passing. I guess Hitch figures that if someone is going to be coughing the puck up in their own zone, he'd rather it be Russell than Tollefson. What do you all think - will we see OKT back in next game, or is Hitch going to ride these 6?

I've been thinking he'll be dealt before Tuesday. Maybe to Pittsburgh.

Just until Klesla is dealt to Tampa.

Word is, he's a little sick.

Ok, I'm drunk on a sunday and I just can't take the OKT bashing anymore!

I'll try to be calm about this... Ole is what he is...he'll never be Nieds or Pronger or Phaneuf, but he is what he is..bash him if you will, but the guy plays with heart, which is more then I can say for a lot of these guys night in and night out.

I agree with ya. I love what Ole brings. He plays his game, and while there are certainly thing he can improve, he's not the one to blame for our overall deficiencies at the position.

If we trade Klesla, he plays, unless we also pick someone else up on defense.

you always need a defenseman like Ole... he hits hard, and stands up for his teammates...

Foote hits, but not hard and certainly hasn't stood up for teammates lately...

I'd be a lot sadder if they got rid of OKT than if they dumped Klesla.

It does get comical at some times i admit while i respect everyones opinion, I guess with Shelley gone we have to find somewone else who was never counted on to have a role to score or pass, and bash them for not scoring/passing well. It seems OKT plays his ROLE well, and Hitch seems to play him when he is healthy. Now if he was here to be an OFFENSIVE D-MAN, and only had say 7 points in 57 games and the worst plus/minus on the team, id agree you should be questioning his ROLE, but in his 117 career nhl games i think he has been improving and sure made alot less mistakes then someone with 1/2 the games and probobly twice the mistakes but yet gets a free pass all day long who shall remain nameless by me. I never seen OKT get undressed one on one in front of his OWN net and thats what is the most important thing i look at in MY opinion what makes a good d-man, can you play defense first ? Somehow im thinking Hitch thinks the same way

I like OKT, especially the toughness he brings. I want the Jackets to keep him, but I wouldn't be sad to see him gone. He's never gonna be much of an offensive threat, but if he can keep improving defensively he definitely has a role on the team. Even if its just being physical and dropping the gloves occasionally. Someone's gotta do it, and I think Hitch would prefer it not to be Boll all the time.

Svitov and Tollefsen were our most consistently tough players last season. They were even more effective than Shelley, whose role was significantly reduced last season through no fault of his own. We've lost Svitov and we might lose Tollefsen. Boll isn't really in their class, but he's the only guy we've got, and that worries me. We've already been complaining about the lack of players standing up for each other. I don't like the idea of that getting worse.

I don't get to see many BJ's games, but I do like what I've seen of Tollefsen. Have wanted the Pens to pick him up since last season. I know everyone says he hits hard, but how good is he at clearing the front of the net? What would you say his ceiling is? Steady 3-4 defensive d-man (worse or better?)? And what would it take to get him? Doesn't seem like it'd be much considering he's being benched.

Would like to see Peca too. What's your thoughts on him? Would it take much to get both?

OKT has been in Hitch's doghouse several times this year. Nobody around here would be surprised to see him traded. He can't carry the puck and isn't that good of a "stay at home" dman either. Makes too many mistakes. So he compensates by hitting hard. He's young, though, and "could" develop into #3 or 4 --given time. Just don't think it will be around here. Could be bought for a 2nd/3rd road draft pick, or as part of a package for a higher ranked player.

Peca has played well...not the "big" impact player we had hoped for, but steady, and a great passer. He makes others better around him. Based on numerous quotes and interviews, he seems to really like being in Columbus with this team. He's friends with Footer and has young kids who are friends with Footer's kids ...so if Footer stays, that might help Peca stay as well. Would be a nice addition to any team.
He's UFA this summer.

I completely agree, I like Ole a lot and believe him to be one of our most consistent D's in our end. Klesla and Hainsey have been dreadful for long stretches of time and they are much more dangerous to be out of position, give the puck away or not clear the front of the net. At least Ole plays a physical game and sticks up for his teammates. He's sick, he's not a healthy scratch lately. Nothing would make me happier than to send Rusty and his lack of heart somewhere else.

OKT has been the odd man out for some games this year but I would hardly say that he's been in Hitch's "doghouse". I think he is a very solid stay at home D, last year he had one of the best +/-'s on the team. He is only in his second year, D is a very tough position to make mistake free play. Klesla has been floudering in his own end for 7 years now with no significant improvement. He was drafted to be our power play specialist and top offensive defensemen and he has yet to crack 20 points more than once. He stinks but for some reason he has trade value so get rid of him and his lousy attitude, I've been to every Jackets fest and he ignores the fans everytime and just sits and plays video games. I'm so beyond done with him. Leave OKT alone, we need him big time!

Ole isnt going anywhere, at least I dont think so, from what I have heard he is sick. If we get rid of Ole then wow, what a joke. We need more physical players like him, not less. We already dealt 50% of our tough factor away (Shelley), dont get rid of the another quarter. It pisses me off, Novotny was getting creamed against Ottawa, where's the retaliation? This guy just came back from an injury guys. Oh well, Im getting off topic, lol. Cant wait to see Jody back in nationwide wed., i can say that much.

I'm not especially attached or against OKT. But I'd much rather see him dealt than Klesla.

If you don't mind me asking, why? Please give me your thinking as to why you would "much" rather have Klesla than OKT. Sell me on why he's a better Defensemen for the Blue Jackets than Ole.

Tollefsen had by far his best game of the season tonight. He did a nice job clearing guys out in front of the net. Better then Foote even.

I'm wondering if it was because the pressure is off him. It must have been nice for him to know that if he had a bad game, he wouldn't spend the next three games in the press box.

In his "best game of the season" he was a -2 playing only 11 minutes. Stellar.
