Why would the Sharks trade Marleau at this point? They can hang on to him through the playoffs and hope that he picks up his game. If he does, great. If he doesn't, it is not like they would have been able to trade for someone that would have been guaranteed to do better.

They might as well wait until summer when there is less pressure, and they can assess how well the playoffs went. At least that seems like the smart thing to me...

For once I have no answer, I'll leave that one up to Howson.

I'm spent.

They aren't unless we decided to give them Zherdev, I doubt they would do it then.

Maybe we'll try and push for him during the offseason.

You must be happy about Brule not getting traded.

I have to admit I wasn't thrilled about the possibility myself, but with Richards in play...

i would have moved him. no reason to give everyone more time to realize he isnt that good. at least now, maybe some still dont know.

Good point, I just looked at his stats and that -21 is atrocious and he's only had two years where he scored more than 60 points. I know I am glad that we did not add him.
However, I think that, even if he tanks in the playoffs, there will be a lot of GM's out there who would be willing to add him to their team. Especially considering the lack of blue chip centers who will be available through free agency this summer.
Regardless, I think an equally strong argument can be made for keeping him around (he does have 29pts so it is not like he is never contributing).

Howson wouldn't comment about Marleau and SJ.

Hopefully this will be good for him. Give him a chance to play first line minutes down in the 'Cuse and maybe win some games to get that winning attitude.

I certainly hope that he centres Lindstrom and Pineault. If we make the playoffs rosters will expand, and potentially all three of these guys could get the call up.

Likely because he wouldn't play. I think it's safe to say that MacKenzie and Rome are warm bodies, and being depth guys, they will be up here in the press box while Lindstrom is playing top line AHL minutes with Brass.

Yeah, I know... My point is that he SHOULD just be with the big club getting good minutes. I agree, having him up to play 6 mins a game is stupid, but why not give him, Brule, and Brassard top-line time? One could say that would engrave the writing on the wall about the season being done already, but I mean, who's our #1 center now anyway, Peca?

I liked the idea of playing Mark instead of calling Brule back up. Honestly, there's no real point to bringing Mark up to play now, we're not making the playoffs, and I really could care less if we tank now...

Winning more than a few games doesn't help us at all anymore.

This makes all the sense in the world to me. While I don't think he was completely overwhelmed in the NHL, he still could use some experience in the A.

Now that he's had a taste of the NHL, he can regain some confidence in Syracuse and hopefully take the next step in his career.

We've all bemoaned the fact that Richards didn't end up here. True top-line centers in the NHL aren't easy to come by, and let's all hope that Brass is allowed to develop into one.

IMHO, the chances of that happening are just as good if not better than landing a #1 center through trade or free agency. No reason to witness the growing pains at the NHL level (as we saw with Zherdev, and hopefully what Brule is emerging from).

It looks like we are throwing in the towel on this season, so why expose young Brassard to the tough situation ahead that crushed our prospects like Klesla in the past? Makes sense to give the kid some more seasoning in the A.
