I think the Habs should use their first round pick on a tough stay-at-home defenseman. This Boris Valabik fellow on the defending Memorial Cup Champion Kitchener Rangers looks like a real bulldog. Huge (6'6", 210lb) and nasty. He might still be available when the Habs pick at no.18. This seems like a good year for defensemen.

Well I don't think Toronto has a 1st or 2nd, so they are retarded. I'm hoping Vancouver takes Adam Berti in the first. He has very good size 6'3 and is a very good skater. A good fit, because Vancouver needs another big physical forward.

You are Correct. Toronto traded its first rounder for Brian Leetch and its second rounder for Glen Wesley(who now plays for Carolina again)

I'm hoping they trade up in the draft to at least get a early second rounder.

how does that make them retarded?

thats ridiculous... not to mention that this draft isn't nearly as deep as last years.

Montreal-With great prospect depth at all positions i think the Canadiens go for size something they dont have alot of. Bruce Graham looks an interesting project 6,6 with good wheels, a long way off but they can afford to wait

Colorado- With such weak prospect depth BPA applies more than ever. I think the Avs will target a scorer like Lisin or Sindel if one of Green O Neil Valabik fall to them though they would likely take one.

Vancover- Berti would be an excellent selection for the Nucks, Mcgrath might be a good selection also, Hedman or Fransson are other possiblities

I'm pretty sure that they don't have a first round pick (because of the Lang trade) and also the second round pick (from the Schneider trade). I think they do have a third rounder, but who knows, Holland may have traded that away when I wasn't looking.

Detroit does not have a 1st or 2nd rd pick this year, but they still have all the rest of their picks.

Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Toronto do not have 2004 1st rds picks. Edmonton (2), NY Rangers (2), and Washington (3) have multiple 1st rd picks.

lets see, leafs are old, fragile and slow. How do you improve that the Draft! No draft was as deep as last years, and you likely won't see a draft that deep for quite some time, that doesn't mean you trade your picks away, Leafs have to win soon, because they are not getting enough top young forwards from the draft and won't if they keep sending picks away!

Welcome to the world of a GM. Does he go for the cup with likely the best goalie he will have for his tenure in Ed Belfour, and lead by a very good captain in Mats Sundin, or does he hoard the prospects, and just hope that his team.....despite its weaknesses, can win a cup without any trades? If you say the latter, I would like to see you try and explain that to Mats and Belfour.

With one of the better scouting staffs in the league, I'd say that the Maple Leafs will do just fine with the remaining picks... plus compensation for Glen Wesley and that conditional pick from New York which will either be a 4th in 2004 or a 3rd in 2003.

Two of the assets (Kondratiev & Immonen) we trade for Leetch were late round draft picks... something the Leafs are good at... snagging good talent in the bottom 3 rounds.

While I agree that the draft this year doesn't look very deep into the third round and beyond, there seem to be a lot of potential impact players available in the first two rounds, and it sucks to miss out on one of them. If the Leafs get ousted by Philly, I'd expect to see a draft day deal to move up. There's lots of room for improvement in their farm system, so don't be surprised.

For MTL i would like our team to trade up to get Tukonnen (wrong spelling), he could be something special.

If either Montoya or Dubnyk is available at #23, they will be Vancouver Canucks.

Vancouver is better off trading for a goalie than picking one up...they need still a winger to fit with the Sedins if King can't cut it.

Montreal will go with size.

Detroit BAP

Toronto needs a forward

Colorado desperately needs a forward
