Bure certainly was with his 1 on 1 ability and on the rush. Overall package not close to McDavid. He lacked vision

I just fail to see how someone can think McDavid right now is a significantly better player than Forsberg was at his peak. Forsberg at his peak was easily a better offensive player than McDavid is right now, not even considering everything else. Forsberg had 78 points in a 47 game stretch in 2003. That wasn't so long ago that 63 points in 57 games today, even considering his lesser supporting cast, could be considered a better offensive performance. That is a whopping gap in production no matter how you cut it.

Did Forsberg lead the league in scoring on a bottom 5 team prior to his draft.... in his second year?

Also does McDavid have an all star player on his team that can take some pressure off of him?

Also, Forsberg is overrated. And I followed his entire career. Got to play on a stacked team, people rate him how he played at his best, plus those intangible attributes of tenacity etc. He was Jonathan Toews before there was a Jonathan Toews.

Lindros, Gretzky, Mario, Jagr were better. But somehow he gets ranked together with that group.
Gretzky + Mario was obviously, much, better. As for the other two im not so sure, Jagr had a way better career. Lindros is the real overrated one.

Also Toews is a b-tier player and doesnt belong in the discussion at all.

Are we really going to gloss over the fact that Gretzky, who played with Lemieux, the 2nd best hockey player ever behind Orr, said that Forsberg, the guy who wasn't even the best player on Colorado. was the best player he ever saw?

Jesus that man is an embarrassment.

It's kinda pathetic to read that lindros was better than forsberg because of injuries when forsberg missed as many games as lindros in his career.

Someone should check Forsbergs surgery list. He did over 30 surgeries on his body including emergency spleen removal.

Over rated how? No one says he's one of the top 5, or even 10. But when healthy, he dominated the league. Very few, including Forsberg, have done that.

I think if people learned the real story about the Lindros camp and the Nordiques, they'd change their tune about the guy

I think that's the point. Lindros and Forsberg had similar careers with Lindros doing more with less around him. Yet people call Lindros overrated and not worthy of the Hall, but think Forsberg is one of the best. Remember, the Avs won a Cup with Forsberg in the press box for the final 2 rounds

Imagine if Stammer, Gretzky, or Forsberg all said they were better than Connor. How would that affect their public image? they'd get destroyed, especially in this sensitive hockey world.
Forsberg never thinks hes good at anything ever

How did he do that? He had less points and points per game in the regular season and playoffs despite having 2 seasons of his career being much higher scoring than any in Forsberg's career, and to top it off Forsberg was a better defensive player.

I'm shocked a Detroit fan doesn't remember how dominant Forsberg was. He missed an entire season, came back, and almost single handedly took out the 2002 Red Wings.

Zlatan can do with a quarter, what Gretzky could do with a puck.

Hes the Malkin to his Crosby. He will get overlooked his entire career because hes going to be second fiddle to Mcdavid.

To paraphrase Draisaitl: You always want to be the best player on the ice. But it can be hard to do sometimes because of Connor!

Players are for the most part well behaving people and give credit to others.

Forsberg was great in many things and so is McDavid. Anyone including Forsberg himself can't make me think that McDavid is better of the two at physical play.

To me this is like Wayne and co. saying Howe is the GOAT. A nice gesture that many hockey players will often make, to their credit.

Lol any salient point someone makes, you're just going to alter the context so that McDavid somehow looks better. "Yeah but did Forsberg score a goal on this date while balancing on one skate? No?? Pfft."

Also, Leon Draisaitl is top 20 in scoring. Is that not "all star" enough for you?

Such a boring comment. Nothing humble about it. Dude was a great player and definitely better than mcdavid at cycling the puck at least

Man I get hockey players are a humble lot but this a tad hyperbolic.

McDavid is a good player, I root for the Oilers in the West, but let the guy accomplish something before we elevate him to HOF status.
