That's why you're in Wyomissing changing oil at Jiffy Lube, (in between drawing up "systems" for NHL teams to use) and Eklund has a website that's probably worth at least a million.

Wow... an Eklund defender. Never could of guessed.

If Eklund deserves credit it is for conveniently linking to Meltzer and Clement.

That's it. Otherwise, he's a fraud.

Decent point. I'm not Eklund's biggest fan at all, but in his business, 90% of what he reports will never happen because that's the nature of trade rumors.

But yeah, I would have been shocked and disappointed if he actually had made that deal. I've seen JVR quite a few times, he's the real deal no question.

It's amazing to me how people who would starve if they had to make a living in the hockey business are out here and have all the answers. You should send your resume to Comcast/Spectacor for the GM position on the Flyers. Next, send it to NHL.com for a correspondent’s position. Wake me when you're making more than $25,000 a year in any type of job in the hockey business. (Zamboni driver working 60 hrs a week doesn't count)

best part about the "you don't have a job in hockey" logic is what i just saw on ESPN. Ten years ago twenty NFL GMs were polled... fourteen of 'em preferred Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning.

I love how some people are naturally accepting of authoritarianism.

"You can't criticize anyone that is your better."

**** that.

Wow that's epic. I thought Manning had become pretty much the consensus No.1 right before the draft? Maybe that was just with the Colts.

I still remember watching Akili Smith in his bowl game against Marshall in '99 and everyone was talking about his future and I was like, "you can't be serious, this guy sucks." Then, when the Bengals drafted him, I thought, "that Akili Smith?"

Yeah, he isn't even good enough for the CFL btw.

NFL GMs and NBA GMs are allowed to be amazingly incompetent at their jobs for some reason.

Eklund is a total fraud, but he does report rumors. He's frauding fraud, essentially. (Does the double negative make him right? )

So I'm going to assume that you work in the business and make over $25,000 a year, thus saving you from being a hypocrite?

If zamboni driver doesn't count, neither should a concession stand employee.

NHL teams are going to start soliciting resumes from HFBoard posters for vacancies.

I mean, I'm as sure as what this kid said. Why else would someone on the Sabres' scouting staff come up to me and ask whether or not I knew who vanRiemsdyk was?

Either way... thank god this didn't go through.

It is just as likely that he is who they were ASKING for, and thus researching... not that the Flyers definitely offered him up. At the end of the day, however, it didn't happen so it doesn't really matter.
