matvichuk?

is this guy in the plans for dallas next season? i was wondering what the scouting report on him is currently. i liked what i saw of him in the regular season- rumors are that he wasn't so great in the playoffs. but at 31, does he still have some good hockey left, or is he headed for the steep decline? thanks...

In the right environment he could flourish. Hatcher's departure imo had a major effect on his game. He is a complimentary player who I think can play well with someone more dominant. He will resign if he takes a paycut I think.

Not good. Not as bad as Hatcher, but he gets burned regularly. Ask any Oiler fan about Dvorak absolutely schooling him in last years playoffs.

What side does he usually play? If he's comfortable on the right side, I think he'd be a good fit with Mattias Ohlund in Vancouver. How is his physical play and shot blocking? How is he defensively? Thanks.

Like I said he tends to flourish when playing with someone more dominant. Meaning he will be more confident and go out and hit more and do all those things. At least he did with Hatcher. Other than this season he is generally quite good defensively.

Thanks for the info Dundalis. Matvichuk sounds like he'd be a good partner for Ohlund.

More like the last two seasons. As bad as he was this year, it was still an improvement on the year before. This year, he at least had stretches where he played very well.

More than likely, Matvichuk's never going to be as good as he once was. His lateral mobility is poorer than it was at that time. He'd thrive on a team that isn't as intent on all the defenseman being heavily involved in the transition play though.
