CBJ control their destiny...win out, with regulation wins vs Caps, and they're Metro champs and at least Co-President's Cup winners. Of course, they'd have to upstage their 16 game win streak with a 17 game win streak.

CBJ have had a very impressive season and hard to believe that they are in this position with 17 games remaining.

The ultimate nightmare scenario is very possible. This would be Pittsburgh jumping Washington for first, thus leaving us to play Washington.

Pittsburgh won, and only 1 point back of Washington. Washingtonjust lost to LA

The longest hockey game ever finished about ten minutes ago in Norway. The game between Storhamar and Sparta started at 6:00 PM and ended 02:33 AM local time. Total game time 217 minutes and 13 seconds, score 2-1 for Storhamar.

I think the Caps would be a better matchup. These guys always find ways to choke and we've got some bloodhounds who pounce when they sense weakness.

I guess that's one way to look at it. I think it's amazing that the CBJ still control their own playoff destiny and are in the Metro and President's Trophy race. I guess I don't like conceding the Metro to the Caps just so CBJ can play Pens. CBJ have 1 game vs Pens left and two vs. Caps. Looking forward to seeing this play out.

CBJ currently have all tiebreakers vs Pens (Row, Head-to-head, Goal Diff). Funny how the Pens for first 3 games vs. CBJ were: "Ah...look at CBJ acting like this game is important. It's just game #34 (#48, #55) for us."

Pens now: "Game #79 could be the biggest game of the season to decide Metro and possible President's Trophy".

The game intensity should really start to bump up starting a week from Thursday.

I want the President's Cup for the CBJ. It's very much in reach still. It would mean a lot more to this franchise than it would to Washington or Pittsburgh.

Definitely. Plus, I'd love to see the CBJ as the reason that the Pens/Caps have to play a 1st round series.

The CBJ have history of finishing the regular season strong.

Caps have opened the door. They have the toughest remaining schedule of the Metro leaders. They're coming home to face the Wild on Tuesday. First home game from a California trip and they find the Wild waiting for them.

Just curious... I buzz through the main board on occasion, which I never did before this year. Question: In past years, were there always all these posts about how great X player is on Canadian team X, or is this just related to all the young talent that has come into the league this year and last (much of which resides on Canadian teams)? It seems like every other thread up there is about McDavid or one of the Leafs players.

When they didn't have the talent to hype there wasn't much of it, no.

The difference is when they do have the talent to hype, the machine goes into overdrive, especially in Toronto. If Werenski was on the Leafs you could employ a full time staff doing nothing but writing about him.

** just recalling the Eberle - Hall - Nuge - Schultz hype from a few years back. It obviously didn't work out for Edmonton but I think they were understandably optimistic.

NYR Holden rides NJD Wood along bench boards right into corner glass. Line fight ensues. Pretty dangerous play really.

So...Crosby has cup checked, slashed a finger off and slew footed opponents in the last two games without so much as a penalty? The league is embarrassing itself.

Maybe it's just me but I think finger-severing should entail a mandatory punishment, intent or no intent
