i know Arvy is probably listed at 180 - but i think that's giving him a bit. There's no way a guy at 180 is getting tossed around and hit to the ice with every single bump and check he takes.

Arvidsson is more like 165-170 IMO.

Agree on 165-170, if that. At 180 he'd be hard to handle; if it was muscle. One thing you simply cannot rely on is the team reported stats on height and weight.

So your saying your eye test is better than what the team reports?

I think over the course of the year guys lose a few pounds. But I understand what you are saying.

If he comes to camp 185 or so, he will be fine.

I mean the team lists Ellis at 5'10, but I don't believe that for a second. My wife at 5'9 is taller than he is.

No, no. That might indicate the team fudges on those things. I just think they weighed him in full gear including skates and stick to get the 180.

Even last year, he was a scoring event:shot generations n machine. Top 20 in he league, actually. He needed to get stronger in his lower body and improve h overall velocity of his shot, and I think he's done that and can still get better.

I predicted a breakout, 20 goal year for him...5 games in and he's almost halfway to his total for all of last year.

Yeah kind of laughing at some of these " nothing more than a 3rd line guy who can score a bit" posts. Blew that **** out of the water.

At least I said he could be top 6 lol.

Vatanen at 5'10 looks like he's 6'1 in comparison to Ellis' height lol.

You mean he's not a 4th line plug that is way too small for the central?

I will admit, I said 45 was more likely than 70+

I hate to say it, but Arvidsson is the kind of player that could wreck us(cap wise) if he gets a fat deal and then never has another year like this one.

I don't know how much he'll really command with only one season like he's had. He'll obviously get a big raise but I don't know how many millions it'll be.

He won't get a big deal. That's not Poile's M.O. He gave Forsberg a big deal off of his ELC, but I think everyone knew he was legit and it was outside the norm for Poile. He'll get a bridge deal, 2 or 3 years.

I also don't think it's a fluke. He passes the eye test and all of the underlying numbers show a player that is a shot/scoring chance generating machine. I think he's the real deal.

I'm predicting 2 or 3 years at 3.5 million as a "prove it" contract.

3 years, 3.5 mil was what Atkinson got.

I know, I know, I keep reiterating that comparison but it just seems so apt...

As a fan, I really want to see him hit 30 goals this year. It's a milestone where your performance is only matched by a few other players around the league. Having said that, some players will hit this milestone once and never repeat or worse they'll finish at 29 goals. I'm curious to see whether Arvy will get 30 or not? And I'm also wondering if this is a career year or if Arvy will be able to replicate this performance in the future? I think his work ethic will give him around the same number of points, but high performance consistency is something he's never had to face. Hopefully he's not going to be Craig Smith 2.0. Hopefully he's already better than that.

Wilson is worth his contract, what are you expecting for just under 4 million? It stinks that he always misses a few games, but he puts up at least a 35-40 point pace every season while driving possession and contributing in the playoffs. Plus he's willing to got to the front of the net and screen and battle. How many Ellis goals this season were due in part to Wilson standing right in front of the goalie? Go watch the highlights.

I'm going to guess just about every GM in the league would take that at 4 million. To say that he's overpaid is just wrong, to say that he's "wrecking the cap" is ridiculous. Smith, well, he's been awful this year and was awful most of last year as well.

Tend to agree with this. Wilson can be frustrating but he gets his and earns his money. Smith......is as well, but doesn't and doesn't.

He turns 24 in a couple of weeks and shouldn't physically start to regress in at least 3-4 years.

And he isn't just a "cerebral" player who will stop caring either. He's good due o the fire he plays with and I don't see that going away in the near future.
